The Ebonyi State chapter of the National Rescue Movement (NRM) has commenced a strategic mobilisation of its members across the state to update their digital membership records with their National Identification Numbers (NIN), in compliance with directives issued by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
The move, according to the party’s leadership, forms part of efforts to strengthen internal party documentation, enhance transparency in membership records, and align with evolving electoral regulatory frameworks guiding political party administration in Nigeria.
Speaking during a State Management Committee meeting held at the weekend, the State Chairman of NRM, Stanley Ogodo, commended party members and supporters across the 13 local government areas of the state for their impressive participation in the ongoing voter registration exercise.
He described the high turnout of party faithful at registration centres as a strong indication of growing political consciousness among citizens and a demonstration of confidence in the NRM’s reform-oriented agenda.
According to the chairman, the party views the development as a critical step toward deepening democratic participation and expanding the electoral strength of the NRM ahead of future political contests.
“The leadership of the party is highly encouraged by the commitment and civic responsibility demonstrated by our members and supporters who have taken the initiative to register and position themselves to participate actively in the democratic process,” he stated.
Ogodo noted that the enthusiastic response from members reflects the increasing acceptance of the NRM as a credible political platform committed to addressing governance challenges and providing viable policy alternatives within Nigeria’s democratic landscape.
He explained that the directive requiring members to update their digital records with their NIN is in line with regulatory provisions introduced by INEC to strengthen the integrity of political party membership registers across the country.
The integration of NIN into the party’s digital database, he added, would ensure proper identification of members, improve internal administrative efficiency, and enhance compliance with national electoral standards.
The state leadership therefore urged all registered members of the party to immediately submit their NIN through their respective ward executives and local government party structures for proper documentation.
Party officials at the grassroots level, including ward chairmen, youth leaders, women leaders, and other key stakeholders, have also been tasked with intensifying mobilisation efforts to ensure full compliance with the directive.
The chairman stressed that the exercise represents a critical administrative step in consolidating the party’s organisational framework and preparing its structures for effective participation in future electoral processes.
He reaffirmed the commitment of the NRM to strengthening its grassroots presence while building a people-oriented political movement anchored on accountability, inclusive governance, and sustainable national development.
The Ebonyi State chapter of the party further reiterated its resolve to continue expanding its political base across the state while engaging citizens who share in the vision of a more responsive and prosperous Nigeria.
Political observers noted that ongoing efforts by parties to update their digital membership databases reflect a broader institutional shift within Nigeria’s electoral system toward improved transparency, regulatory compliance, and data-driven party administration under the supervision of INEC.
