In a show of solidarity and interfaith harmony, the Ebonyi State chapter of the National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN) has extended warm felicitations to the Muslim community across the state on the occasion of Eid-el-Fitr 2026.
The council commended the faithful for their steadfast devotion during Ramadan, a period characterized by spiritual reflection, self-discipline, and communal empathy.
In a statement signed by Comrade Douglas Ochishi, NYCN Chairman, Ebonyi State, the youths lauded the Muslim community for advocating that political appointments and public service nominations should be anchored on merit, competence, and professional capacity, rather than religious affiliation.
“Such a principled stance epitomizes the ideals of equity, ethical governance, and inclusiveness, which are critical to fostering sustainable development and societal cohesion,” the statement said.
The NYCN also acknowledged the proactive role of the Ebonyi State Government under Governor Francis Nwifuru in promoting interfaith dialogue, peaceful coexistence, and respect for religious diversity.
The council emphasized that this collaborative spirit between government, youth bodies, and religious institutions strengthens the social fabric and engenders an environment conducive to political transparency and good governance.
Comrade Ochishi urged all citizens to use the joyous occasion of Eid-el-Fitr not only as a time for spiritual renewal but also as an opportunity to reinforce societal values of unity, tolerance, and mutual respect. “Eid is a celebration of both faith and fraternity. It reminds us that the progress of Ebonyi State depends on collective responsibility, ethical leadership, and the unwavering commitment of every citizen, regardless of creed,” he noted.
The NYCN wished all Muslims a blessed and peaceful Eid-el-Fitr, praying that the festival ushers in spiritual fulfillment, prosperity, and enduring harmony across Ebonyi State.
