The Artisans Association of Nigeria (AAN), Ebonyi State Chapter, has commenced moves to officially endorse the second-term bid of Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The endorsement, scheduled for April 29, 2026, is expected to draw artisans from across the state in what the association described as a grand show of solidarity and appreciation for the Governor’s leadership.
The decision followed what members termed a productive partnership and strategic alliance between the Nwifuru administration and the artisan community, which they say has significantly boosted local enterprise and economic growth.
Speaking at a statewide executive meeting, the State Coordinator of the association, Francis John Nwebonyi, commended the Governor for his developmental strides and inclusive governance.
According to him, since the creation of Ebonyi State, Governor Nwifuru stands out as the first leader to demonstrate a broad-based commitment to artisans by recognizing their critical role in economic development.
He noted that the current administration has gone beyond mere acknowledgment by actively involving artisans in policy formulation and implementing programs that enhance productivity and sustainability within the sector.
Nwebonyi expressed the association’s deep appreciation for the Governor’s continued support and goodwill, stressing that such engagement has strengthened the confidence of artisans in government.
He also called on members across the state to turn out en masse for the endorsement exercise, noting that April 29 has been declared a work-free day by the association to ensure full participation.
The announcement was made during a well-attended statewide executive meeting involving trade union chairmen, their secretaries, and members of the association’s executive council.
Reaffirming its position, the AAN Ebonyi Chapter pledged its commitment to supporting leadership that prioritizes the welfare of artisans and vowed to mobilize members statewide in backing Governor Nwifuru’s second-term ambition.
