There appears to be renewed political optimism in the Abakaliki/Izzi Federal Constituency following the formal entry of Dr Ezeh Emmanuel Ezeh into the race for the House of Representatives seat under the platform of the Labour Party.
Ezeh, a frontline aspirant, has officially purchased his nomination and expression of interest form, thereby signaling the commencement of his legislative ambition ahead of the forthcoming general elections after his alleged stolen mandate to represent Abakaliki/Izzi Federal Constituency during the 2023 general elections
His entry into the contest has continued to generate reactions among political stakeholders, party members, and residents of the constituency, many of whom described the development as a fresh wave of hope for effective representation.
Speaking shortly after obtaining the form, Ezeh declared that his decision to join the race was anchored on service to humanity and a deep desire to provide purposeful representation for the people of the constituency. He stressed that his aspiration was not driven by personal ambition or selfish interest, but by a commitment to contribute meaningfully to the development of Abakaliki/Izzi Federal Constituency.
Describing his political move as “Service Above Self,” the aspirant maintained that he had been encouraged by widespread support from citizens within the constituency, across Ebonyi State, and among Nigerians in the diaspora, who, according to him, have consistently urged him to step forward and offer leadership.
“There are no blind ambitions, no selfish interests, just a pure desire to serve. At a time like this, the best of us must step forward and brave the odds. For every disappointment, there lies greater opportunity,” he said.
Ezeh further pledged to pursue a legislative agenda rooted in inclusiveness, accountability, and transparency, noting that if elected, he would ensure that the voices of constituents are adequately represented at the National Assembly.
He promised to prioritize people-oriented policies that would address key developmental challenges facing the area, including infrastructure, youth empowerment, and economic advancement.
According to him, his vision aligns with the broader aspiration of building what he described as a “New Nigeria that is Possible,” stressing that the journey towards transforming the constituency and improving the lives of the people has begun in earnest.
He also emphasized the need for leadership that is accessible and responsive, adding that effective representation must go beyond electioneering promises to practical delivery of democratic dividends.
Meanwhile, the development has sparked excitement among supporters of the Labour Party, particularly within the constituency, where political observers say the aspirant’s entry could reshape the dynamics of the contest.
Some residents who reacted to his declaration expressed optimism that his participation in the race would introduce fresh perspectives into the political landscape of Abakaliki/Izzi Federal Constituency.
They noted that his message of service and inclusiveness resonates with the growing demand for accountable leadership at all levels of governance.
Within party circles, members of the Labour Party reportedly described his emergence as a welcome development, saying it would further strengthen the party’s presence and competitiveness in the constituency ahead of the polls.
Our correspondent gathered that the contest for the House of Representatives seat may become more competitive as aspirants begin to align their strategies ahead of party primaries, with emphasis expected on grassroots engagement and issue-based campaigns.
As political activities gradually gain momentum, Ezeh has called on his supporters to remain peaceful and committed to democratic principles, assuring that his campaign would be anchored on issue-driven engagement rather than political hostility.
With his official entry into the race again for the 2027 polls, attention has now shifted to how the Labour Party will conduct its primaries and how aspirants will position themselves in what is expected to be a keenly contested political battle for the Abakaliki/Izzi Federal Constituency seat in the House of Representatives.
