Governor of Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru of Ebonyi State has called on Muslim faithful across Nigeria to use the occasion of Eid-el-Kabir to pray for peace, unity, love and social cohesion in the country.
Nwifuru made the call in a statement issued on Tuesday by his Chief Press Secretary, Dr. Monday Uzor, to commemorate the 2026 Eid-el-Kabir celebration.
The governor said the country’s numerous socio-economic and political challenges require divine intervention, stressing that sacred occasions such as Eid-el-Kabir provide an opportunity for Nigerians to seek spiritual solutions through prayers and supplications to Allah.
According to him, “The truth is that sacred occasions, events and seasons like this offer us not only the opportunity, but rare privilege to seek spiritual solutions to the plethora of physical challenges greeting and staring starkly at us as a nation.
“And Eid-el-Kabir is such an opportunity graciously granted to us to seek Allah’s face and intervention.”
Nwifuru urged Muslim Ummahs and devotees of Prophet Muhammad to leverage the season in the interest of national unity and peaceful coexistence.
He noted that peace, unity and love remain critical to addressing the nation’s challenges and strengthening social cohesion among citizens.
“Peace, unity and love are the tripartite solutions to our pluralistic questions.
“And so as we celebrate this sacred event, I urge our Muslim brothers and sisters to pray for peace across the country, unity in pursuit of a united political front and love for one another to ensure social cohesion,” he stated.
The governor also reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to sustaining collaboration with religious organisations and strengthening interfaith dialogue as part of efforts aimed at promoting state building and good governance in Ebonyi State.
“As government, we will continue to partner religious organizations to deliver good governance as enshrined in the People’s Charter of Needs Agenda,” he added.
