The Federal Government has directed the immediate reopening of all sections of the Abuja–Kaduna-Kano Road to facilitate the smooth movement of commuters during the Eid al-Adha celebrations.
The directive was issued by the Honourable Minister of Works, Senator David Umahi, who instructed the contractor handling the road project, Infiouest Nigeria Limited, to ensure that all accessible portions of the highway are opened to traffic without delay.
According to a press statement issued on Monday by the Senior Special Assistant to the Minister on Media, Francis Nwaze, the decision was aimed at easing the movement of travelers and ensuring safer journeys throughout the festive period.
The Minister also confirmed that an earlier accident that occurred along the road corridor had been completely cleared to restore free flow of traffic.
“The Honourable Minister of Works, Senator Engr. David Umahi, has directed the contractor handling the Abuja–Kaduna-Kano Road project, Infiouest Nigeria Limited, to immediately open all sections of the road to ease the movement of commuters traveling during the Eid al-Adha festive period and ensure safer and smoother journeys,” the statement said.
To strengthen security and maintain order on the busy highway, the Federal Government disclosed that security agencies had been deployed to strategic locations along the corridor.
The statement added that the deployment was intended to guarantee the safety of motorists and other road users during the Sallah celebrations.
The Abuja–Kaduna-Kano Road remains one of the country’s busiest transport corridors, linking the Federal Capital Territory with major commercial and industrial centres in Northern Nigeria.
