The Senatorial candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) for Ebonyi North Senatorial District, Hon. James Nwogha Nwite, has declared that “winds of change” are already blowing across the district ahead of the 2027 general elections, following his emergence as the party’s sole candidate.
Nwite made the remark in a press statement issued on Thursday in Abakaliki, where he expressed appreciation to the leadership and members of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) for what he described as a peaceful, transparent and credible primary election that produced him as the flagbearer.
He said his emergence reflects not only internal party unity but also the growing demand by the people of Ebonyi North for purposeful and responsive representation at the National Assembly.
According to him, “the winds of change are already blowing across Ebonyi North,” stressing that the electorate are increasingly united in their desire to end what he termed years of ineffective representation and usher in people-focused leadership.
Nwite, who is contesting to represent the Ebonyi North Senatorial District, comprising Abakaliki, Izzi and Ohaukwu local government areas, said his candidacy is a “sacred mandate” to restore the voice of the people at the Senate.
He commended the party’s national leadership, state executives, and delegates for their support, adding that the primary election outcome was a demonstration of trust and collective confidence in his leadership capacity.
“The journey ahead is not about an individual but about rescuing our district from years of ineffective representation and ensuring that dividends of democracy reach every community,” he said.
The NDC candidate pledged to prioritize youth empowerment, education, agricultural transformation, healthcare delivery, women inclusion, job creation and rural infrastructure development if elected.
He further vowed to run an inclusive campaign anchored on grassroots mobilisation, strategic engagement and unity within the party, stressing that victory in 2027 would depend on collective effort rather than individual ambition.
Nwite expressed confidence that the electorate are ready for change, insisting that the forthcoming election would be an opportunity for the people of Ebonyi North to “reclaim their mandate” and chart a new developmental path.
He assured supporters that he would remain committed to accountable and accessible representation, while urging party members to remain united and focused as preparations for the polls intensify.
“The best is yet to come for Ebonyi North,” he added.
