The National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN), Ebonyi State Chapter, has said the endorsement of Governor Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru for a second term by the Izhi clan under the umbrella of Oha Izhi Nnodo reflects unity, political maturity and a shared commitment to development.
The State Chairman of NYCN, Comrade Douglas Ochishi, made this assertion at the Pa Ngele Oruta Township Stadium, Abakaliki, shortly after the Izhi apex socio-cultural organization unanimously endorsed the governor’s re-election bid.
Ochishi described the endorsement as a clear indication of the strong bond of unity within the Izhi nation, noting that the decision was driven by the desire to sustain ongoing development and consolidate governance gains across Ebonyi State.
He commended the leadership of Oha Izhi Nnodo for demonstrating collective responsibility and speaking with one voice in support of what he described as people-oriented governance.
According to him, the Izhi clan has set a commendable example for other socio-cultural groups in the state by prioritizing peace, stability and development over sectional or partisan interests.
The NYCN chairman noted that Governor Nwifuru’s administration has recorded significant achievements in infrastructure development, youth empowerment, healthcare delivery, rural transformation, education support and improved security architecture.
He said these achievements have continued to earn the administration broad-based acceptance across communities in the state, particularly among youths and grassroots stakeholders.
.
Ochishi further stated that the “People’s Charter of Needs” agenda of the government has deepened public confidence in leadership, adding that it has fostered inclusiveness and equitable distribution of development projects.
He reaffirmed the commitment of NYCN to intensify youth mobilization across the 13 local government areas and 171 wards of the state, urging young people to actively participate in the ongoing Permanent Voter Card (PVC) registration exercise.
He stressed that youth engagement in the democratic process remains critical to sustaining good governance and ensuring credible leadership recruitment.
The NYCN chairman also called on youths in the state to remain peaceful, law-abiding and productive, warning against acts capable of undermining the prevailing peace in Ebonyi State.
He added that the council would continue to collaborate with government and relevant stakeholders in promoting youth empowerment, entrepreneurship development and civic responsibility.
Ochishi expressed optimism that ongoing development projects across the state would further position Ebonyi as a model of rapid growth and stability in Nigeria.
The event, which attracted political leaders, traditional rulers, youth groups and stakeholders from the Izhi clan, ended with renewed pledges of support for Governor Nwifuru’s administration and its development agenda.
