The Nigeria Senate Plenary today Tuesday 28th September; 2021, the bill for an act for the establishment of Federal Medical Centre Owutu Edda sponsored by Distinguished Senator Michael Amah Nnachi was read third time and passed waiting for executive assent.
The passage of the Federal Medical Centre Owutu Eda (Establishment) Bill, 2021, followed consideration of a report by the Committee on Health (Secondary and Tertiary)
Chairman of the Committee, Senator Yahaya Oloriegbe, in his presentation, said the bill seeks to provide for the Federal Medical Centre, Owutu Eda, and make provisions for its due management and administration.
According to the lawmaker, the establishment of the medical Centre was informed by the need to bridge the existing gap between primary, secondary and tertiary healthcare delivery in Ebonyi State and Nigeria as a whole.
“There is the need to bring tertiary healthcare closer to the people which this bill seeks to achieve”, he said.
This important was borne out Sen Amah Nnachi's zeal, passion and commitment in bettering the lots of Afikpo extraction. And amelioration of their plights as regard health challenges.
Sen Dr Michael Amah Nnachi has demonstrated his uncommon love towards his Constituents and is poised to do more.
This bill if signed by the Executive arm of government would address virtually the health challenges facing the people of Edda Clan and it's environs including Abia and cross River states. It is important to note that Senator Dr Michael Amah Nnachi has initiated nine bills since his emergence in 2019, including motions moved.
