A group of Academic Staff in Ebonyi State University has signed the suspension of the Acting Chairman of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) in the institution.
The Academic Staff led by Dr G. C Nwanbeke, ASUU Secretary in the university said the suspension was a welcome development in the efforts to rebuild the university.
It alleged that the present executive led by Dr Ikechukwu Igwenyi, Ag. Chairman had engaged in series of issues bothering on gross violation and and breach of ASUU Constitution.
The Ag. Chairman had also engaged in other issues that were detrimental to the staff wellbeings, the group further alleged.
"The congress of ASUU EBSU held on September 16, 2021 at faculty of Science auditorium has suspended Dr Ikechukwu Igwenyi from office as Ag Chairman of ASUU in Ebonyi State University.
"The Acting Chairman, Igwenyi should within two weeks from the date of suspension transmit various annual report of financial activities to the congress.
"All concerned in the institution are hereby requested to note and act accordingly," he noted.
All efforts to get the reactions of the suspended Acting Chairman, Dr Igwenyi were proved abortive.
