Governor David Nweze Umahi of Ebonyi State has won the African Governor of the year following his evident leadership and developmental strides recorded in his current office.
The award was given to the governor by the African continental group known as the African Industry Awards (AFI Awards) on last Saturday, when the State hosted the entire Africans at Akanu Ibiam International Conference, Abakaliki for the event.
The group according to him, also gave awards of excellence to other eminent Ebonyians including the Speaker of Ebonyi State House of Assembly, Chief Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru who won the Best Speaker in Africa.
While the Chairman of EDON Group of Companies, Arc. Dr. Edward Okereke Nkwegu, won the African Best Captain of Industry and Entrepreneur of the year for having distinguished himself in the areas in the society.
Other awardees during the event were the Chairman Revenue Mobilization, Allocation and Fiscal Commission, Engr Elias Mbam as the African Industrious Award of the year, Arc. Christian Asaga as the African Best Creativity and Human Empowerment of the year, among others.
They were given the awards for their impactful contributions towards the growth and development of the society.
Different companies were also given the awards, and they included Vinglobal - African Best Home and Office Technology of the year, Jinziang Quary Nigeria - African Quary of the year, Spendid Luxury Furniture - African Best Furniture and Interior Decor of the year, Debby Dioda -African International Designer of the year, Ibeto Group -African Best Petroleum Company of the year, 1xbet - African Best Online Sporting Bet of the year, Laplandia Vodka - African best vodka of the year, among others.
He said the platform aims at adding value to the African countries and their citizens across the globe.
Ogwudu further stated that the group's awards cut across people and groups that have distinguished themselves in different sectors, touching humans positively.
He congratulated the beneficiaries of the awards, saying that the platform is determined to add value to the African countries and the citizens, given Ebonyi as an example following the promises made by different investors to invest in the state.
