Four Corps members of the 2021 Batch 'B' Stream 'I' will repeat their National Youth Service in Ebonyi State following the nationwide passing out ceremony holding today, our correspondent learnt.
The State NYSC Coordinator, Mrs Bamai Mercy Dawuda made this known at Nkaleke, the Abakaliki Local Government Headquarters while interacting with newsmen on Friday.
According to Mrs Bamai, a total of 667 corps members comprising 345 males and 322 females of the 2021 Batch 'B' Stream 'I' passed out from their one year compulsory service in the state.
She also disclosed that about 28 corps members compromising 17 males and 11 females bagged extension of service while only 3 males and one female from the batch would repeat their service year for having absconded from duty.
The State Coordinator had earlier in her speech, expressed joy over the good conduct of the majority of the corps members during their service year in the state.
She charged them to utilize the skills which they acquired in their service year to harness their futures while pursing greater opportunities in the society.
"I want to thank God for the good roles most of you played. I want to tell you that the certificate of the National Youth Service Corps, is not meant for everyone who came for service but you have to work for it.
"I told you about the allowances during your orientation courses in the camp. You have to work for your allowances and that your employers gave you letter for your vauching have shown that you really worked in your areas of primary assignment, and that's why you got your allowances being paid.
"Not only that, you have passed out from the areas of your primary assignment successfully; because there was no negative reports against you. It's only a handful of you, if not almost all that came to serve did well and made us proud.
"Now, it is a passing out programme, I know it's in a low key, but as you leave the NYSC, we expect you to be discipline. Remember that self-discipline and good performance make head-ways in life. You must discipline yourselves and work harder to achieve a desired goal in the society," she said.
Bamai further charged the corps members to keep abreast with a life style that would make them to be worthy in character and learning while encouraging them to continue to imbibe spirit of hard work and resilience wherever they found themselves.
She also advised the corps members to remain the good ambassadors of NYSC by promoting the core values of the scheme, especially in building national integration and encouraging self-reliance.
Some of the corps members including Salisu Idris, Jennifer Eleonu, Adebola Adebayo, Daniel Yakubu, and others who spoke with newsmen commended the NYSC staff in the state for their robust treatment as they affirmed that the scheme has widely contributed to the nation building and integration.
