The Publicity Secretary, Ebonyi State chapter of All Progressives Congress, Comrade Simbad Chidi Ogbuatu said on Tuesday that the former Senate President and Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Senator Pius Anyim and his cohorts have been in the onslaught against the performing Governor of Ebonyi State, Chief David Nweze Umahi to cover their weaknesses while in public office.

"One thing is clear and should be noted by all Ebonyians. Anyim and his men in the onslaught against the performing government of Umahi, are doing so to cover their weakness and their inability to heal their ailing party, to infuse vibrancy in it as opposition party, which is obviously lacking in every of their political activities.
"In attempt to hide the inefficiencies which has turned their party into a mere social club, these men resorted to mendacious propaganda and name - calling the governor, to divert the attention of the public from the problems ailing their party.
"Unfortunately, the public are not buying into their double standard, because they are abreast with the good works of the governor who has graciously changed the narrative in the state since he came onboard," Ogbuatu said.
The State APC Spokesman demanded that Senator Obinna Ogba should explain his alleged declaration that "Ebonyians will laugh again."
He maintained that "it is dangerous to trust Ebonyi PDP state stakeholders," following his claims that, "Senators Anyim, Ogba, Egwu and cohorts, were before the defection of Governor Umahi to the ruling party, APC, expressed positive views of the performance of the Ebonyi State Governor, and in the diverse national issues.
"These supposedly great sons of Ebonyi State have thrown their integrity to the dustbin, reached out to their bags of double standard and launched verbal missile against the same man they praised and attacked anyone that spoke ill of him.
"What sort of political example are these men showing to Ebonyians? Though, dusting the records of the trio, Anyim, in particular, has held the position of the President of the Senate and Secretary to the Federal Government of Nigeria. All Ebonyi gained from the stints was crises that tore his party, PDP apart.
"His cohort Senator Ogba would not have been to the senate in the first place, without his cling on the political voyage of the Governor Umahi, same applies to Egwu and others.
"The video clips where they praised the works of Governor Umahi and encouraged Ebonyians to support him, are not encrypted, and never a time has any of them denied the facts they authenticated in the video clips.
"Ebonyians will laugh again" was a statement credited to Ogba, after the last PDP meeting held in Salt Lake Hotels. The question is, has Ogba been able to make his constituents laugh, let alone implementing laughter to the sizeable population of the state?"
He advised the PDP members and their supporters to play politics with maturity.
"It's advisable to the PDP to play opposition correctly and only then can the party stakeholders be taken seriously. No politically serious minded Ebonyian, or the public would be ready to do anything with Ogba and co, after they have breached the public trust, and speaking with the two sides of their mouth can't redeem their waned integrity.
"Ebonyians across party lines are happy with Umahi and have always given the needed support, and that's the reason they overwhelming voted to elect him for the second term into office, to consolidate his good works for good of Ebonyians.
"Millions of Ogba and co can't dim the outstanding works of the Governor. They more lies they tell about him, the more they discredit themselves before the public," he added.
