Ebonyi government on Friday constituted a 7-man committe to organize retreat on ease of doing business in the state
The State Commissioner for Commerce, Industry and Business Development, Dr Stephen Odoh made this known after his ministry's meeting with the leadership of the Chambers of Commerce and other business actors in Abakaliki.
"We have constituted a 7-man committe led by the permanent Secretary of Ebonyi State Ministry of Commerce , Industry and Business Development, Mrs Ukwuta Ogonna Christiana, and the members of the committee were drawn from the relevant ministries to organize retreat on ease of doing business.
"We want to sit down at least two days to see the strength and challenges we have before deploying them into action.
"We want also to talk to the Chambers of Commerce, other business actors on how to promote business activities in Ebonyi State. All we will be looking at is, how best to promote business activities in Ebonyi State?" Odoh stressed.
He expressed the readiness of the state government to ensure that business activities are promoted in every part of Ebonyi.
He said that the meeting was attended by the members of Ebonyi State Chambers of Commerce led by their President, Dr Eze Emmanuel, other commissioners from relevant ministries and commended their inputs to make Ebonyi the best in business activities.
"So we conveyed the meeting with the leadership of the Chambers of Commerce, Ministry of Market and Park Development, the Ministry of Capital City and Urban Development, to draw out ways anybody who does business in Ebonyi will not be exposed to threats.
The essence of this meeting is to discuss innovations that will make Ebonyi to be unique because we always want to be the best in everything we do.
"The inputs by the Chambers of Commerce were very interesting and I want to assure general public that Ebonyi government is working with the Chambers of Commerce in ensuring that business promotions are guaranteed in this state," he added.
Also, the State Commissioner for Capital City and Urban Development, Barr Onyekachi Nwebonyi, represented by Mr Simon Edeziah, the Administrative Head of the his ministry, commended the team for coming together to chat ways of boosting business activities in Ebonyi.
He said, "before now the business actors in the state saw the government ministries and agencies as not be friendly but we have debunked that insinuation."
The Commissioner who believed that the retreat would help to enhance harmonious business environment, urged all the business people in the state to comply with the state government's policies and directives by moving to the designated places for their business activities.
Recall that the President of Ebonyi Chambers of Commerce, Mining, Agriculture and Industry, EBCCMAI, Dr Emmanuel Eze and other members have advocated for a healthy relationship between the state government and business people in state, leading to the constitution of the business retreat committee.
