Ebonyi government under the watch of Governor David Nweze Umahi has ordered landlords to build a uniform fence with the same colour along the Abakaliki-Enugu highway in the state.
The State Commissioner for Capital City and Urban Development, Barr Onyekachi Nwebonyi made this known on Monday while briefing newsmen after having a meeting with the landlords in Abakaliki.
Nwebonyi urged the property owners to contribute their quota in the Ebonyi government's effort to boost aesthetic statue of the state capital.
"We have notified the landlords that the state government has directed the property owners or landlords along Abakaliki-Enugu highway, to build a uniform fence with the same colour.
The Commissioner further stated that the Ebonyi government also has directed those having property at Afikpo Ogoja and Water-works roads, should plant trees and beautiful flowers in their environment, with a well concretely cement from their building to the gutter.
"And from the fence to the drainage (gutter), should be concretely cemented, while trees will be planted to achieve a greeny environment," Nwebonyi stated.
He urged them to change worn-out zincs to either aluminum or Cameroon zinc, to achieve the government's target of beautifying the capital city, on or before 30th November, 2021.
Speaking on behalf of the landlords, Mr Okey Igbukwu and Mrs Cecilia Ogbogu thanked the Commissioner, and pledged to do their best while urging the government to extend the deadline.
