The Ebonyi government on Sunday pledged that its representatives would participate credibly at the forthcoming national youth conference in Abuja.
The state Commissioner for Sports and Youth Development Charlse Akpuenika made the disclosure in Abakaliki in an interview.
Akpuenika said that the state government has released enough funds to ensure adequate representation of the state at the conference.
"We have selected the required 10 youths who would participate at the conference and we have absolute trust in them to deliver.
"The governor had overtime shown unparalleled interest in affairs of youths and such made him immediately approve the state's participation at the conference.
The commissioner said that the conference was apt due to the present socio-economic challenges confronting the country.
"Misguided youths have lately been engaged in various anti-social activities which have become problematic for the country.
"The youths who would participate at the conference are expected to profer solutions that would assist in solving the problems.
He noted that state's contingent to the ongoing national youths games in Ilorin, Kwara has been motivated to compete equitably at the games.
"We successful hosted the south east zonal elimination of the national youth games and qualified to represent the state in most of the team games.
"Our athletes in the individual events have also trained adequately to represent us equitably at the games and we are hopeful of medals haul.
Akpuenika urged youths to reciprocate the governor's gesture by engaging in productive ventures and shun crime among other vices.
"The governor has laid the foundation for youths' engagement in the state's goverrnance as over 70 per cent of the government functionaries are youths.
