Amid the agitations by secessionist groups in Nigeria, President Muhammad Buhari has assured a greater unity among all regions and the citizens as the country marked her 61st independence anniversary today.
President Buhari in his special message for the indepenrdence anniversary, said that the country belongs to all the citizens, not minding their tribes or colours.
He urged all hands to be on deck to keep moving the country forward.
"Nigeria is for all of us. It's unity is not negotiable. And it's ultimate success can only be achieved if we all come together with a common goal of having peace and prosperity for our nation," he said.
The President also urged Nigerians to continue to work on dialogue based solutions to address some legitimate grievances, expressing his administration's readiness to take decisive actions against secessionist agitators and their sponsors who threatens the National Security.
"The recent arrests of Nnamdi Kanu and Sunday Adeyemo, and other ongoing investigations being conducted have reaveled certain high profiled financiers behind these individuals. We are vigorously pursuing these financiers including one of them identified as a serving member of the National Assembly.
"This is a clear example of how people abandon their national Leadership positions for their selfish gains. Instead of preaching unity, they are funding and misleading our youths to conduct criminal acts that sometimes lead to unfortunate and unnecessary loss of lives and properties.
"And the so-called leaders who run abroad to hide, our innocent youths are misled and left in the streets to fight for their senseless and destructive causes," Mr President said.
