Elder Michael Mkpukpu, the PCRC Chairman, Ebonyi State Command, stated this, Thursday, during the awareness campaign in Abakaliki.
According to Elder Mkpukpu, the sensitization tour became necessary in considering the rising cases of insecurity, resulting into attacks, destruction of lives and property by hoodlums.
The Chairman observed that, in all the attacks carried out by the hoodlums, lives of the men of police and other innocent people have been massively at the losing side.
He however, urged police and general public to maintain a healthy relationship between themselves, to enable them raid off the society's gullible enemies.
"People in various communities should know that Police is your nearest friend and should not at anytime plan evil against your own Police. In the same vain, police should also handle members of public with love knowing that they are your brothers and sisters," he stated.
Elder Mkpukpu further advised Police officers, IPOB members and hoodlums to always see themselves as people from one Creator, by stopping attacking one another and ensure God's love rules them indiscriminately at all times.
"Even when it's sometimes alleged that the killers of Police are members of Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) Eastern Security Network (ESN), if you succeed in killing every Police in Southeast Nigeria, assuming the Biafra Independence is granted, who is going to live in the Biafra if everyone is killed?" Mkpukpu asked.
Also, the Assistant Secretary of the Committee who stood in for the Secretary, Mr Ernest Nwaze and the Organising Secretary, Mrs Confidence Uche Kalu, expressed optimism that with the awareness campaign, the killing of Police would be a thing of the past soon in Ebonyi State
The duo equally urged general public to always provide the committee with a relevant information that would help to arrest any security threat in the areas.
One of the members of the PCRC, Dr Uche Iburu, a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Industrial Physics, Ebonyi State University (EBSU), said the committee is mandated to create a cordial relationship between the police and general public, stressing that all hands must be on deck to stabilize the security situation in the society.Meanwhile, some of the members of the committee were carrying placards containing inscriptions which read: "PCRC Ebonyi State Command end police killing now," "Stop taking life because you can't create it," "PCRC Ebonyi State Command, policemen are your friends, help them and support them," PCRC Ebonyi State Command, say no to destruction of police and other security formation," PCRC Ebonyi State Command, Police is your friend, help them and support them," amongst others.
