Ebonyi State Chapter of the All Progressives Congress, APC, has called on its members and general public to disregard the statement credited to the Chairman of the South East Governors' Forum, Chief David Nweze Umahi on his alleged reaction about the inconclusive Anambra State governorship election.
The APC Publicity Secretary of Ebonyi State, Comrade Simbad Chidi Ogbuatu made this known in a press releas which was made available to newsmen in Abakaliki town on Monday.
The release read in parts: "The attention of the All Progressives Congress, APC Ebonyi State has been drawn to a statement shared on Facebook by one Sen. Chijinkem Ugwuanyi and credited the same to the Chairman, Southeast Governors' Forum, leader of great party, APC and Executive Governor of Ebonyi State, His Excellency Engr Chief David Nweze Umahi FNSE FNATE, reacting to the outcome of the Anambra governorship election that was held on 6th November, 2021.
"We wish to state categorically that the statement did not come from the leader of our party and Executive Governor of Ebonyi State, Engr Chief David Nweze Umahi. It is important to note that every member and leader of APC wishes the party well at all times, especially the Governor of Ebonyi State whose prominence and uncommon commitment in the party affairs are nationally recognized, but then, His Excellency, Chief David Umahi has not issued any statement in respect of the outcome of the yet to be concluded governorship election in Anambra State. The governor will give a statement when there is need and necessity to do so.
"We also wish to remind the general public that His Excellency, Engr Chief David Nweze Umahi has not forgotten that he is the leader of Southeast zone by the virtue of his position as the Chairman, Southeast Governors'Forum. To that effect, the governor is always mindful of his choice of words and actions in any issue relating to the zone, so as not to be bias, no matter who is involved despite the fact that he is in APC.
"We therefore, call on our members and the public to disregard the statement as it is the handwork of mischief makers as the said Ugwuanyi is not known to Ebonyi APC or any organ of the Party."
