He said that the state government under the watch of Governor David Nweze Umahi has zero tolerance for illegal mining activities allegedly perpetrated by extractive companies.
Nnabu who spoke to journalists during his routine inspection tours of various sites under his purview at the new Housing Development Site along Enugu/Abakaliki Highway decried the activities of illegal mining in other states, and reiterated government’s stance on any activity that endangers the ecosystem.
While touring the sites, the Commissioner expressed happiness over the progress made so far, commending the governor for working towards the provision of Housing Estates for Ebonyi people.
Asked date of the commencement of the projects, he invited journalists to check where the Governor Umahi has faltered in delivering his campaign promises and social contracts with Ebonyi people, insisting that for the governor to have, in his engineering wizardry, constructed over twenty flyovers, in less than six years, completing the Housing Project will not last more than expected.
The Commissioner further stated that the inspection is to ensure that workers deployed to the sites are working to specification as the government will not allow the people to be shortchanged in the course of project execution.
Nnabu after inspecting progress of work, proceeded to another project site, to ensure strict adherence to the instruction by contractors in the state.
