Professor Anthony Itumo, the Head of Political Science Department in Ebonyi State University, Abakaliki, has called on Nigerian youths to go back on reading culture.
Professor Itumo made this call during the 7th book launch of Mr Onyekachi Ali titled “The Cold War Called COVID 19” in Abakaliki town.
Professor Itumo said that, "you can only know what you didn’t know only if you read. The best way to improve yourself is to read always,” Itumo hinted.
The former Commissioner for Information and State Orientation, Dr John Otu used the opportunity to address people who were present in the occasion on how important it is to cultivate the habits of regular reading.
Also, the Head of Department, Mass Communication Ebonyi State University, Dr Ifeyinwa Nsude expressed happiness over what she described as success on her part.
“I am happy that all my students are doing very well in their various fields. I encourage Ali Onyekachi to continue in this part he has chosen," she advised.
A Senior Lecturer at Ebonyi State College of Education Ikwo, Dr Livinus Ezeuwa who made the book presentation, called on politicians and others to always invest in academics.
Dr Ezeuwa, who is a Public Affairs Analyst and Academic Consultant, said, "it’s unfortunate that many leaders are no longer prioritizing educational sector in their policies."
Meanwhile, the young Author of "The Cold War Called COVID-19," Mr Onyekachi Ali said the book x-rayed what actually transpired during the heat of COVID 19 where politicians used the disease to play politics instead of looking for solution and how to cure the disease, which wrecked havock in humanities.
Mr Onyekachi Ali, the Managing Director of Ali and Sons Media Consult, is a creative writer who has authored seven different books including Classical Literature in English, The Era of Hope, New Approach to Editorial and Commentary Writing, The Agony of Jobless Graduates, The Fake Prophet, Lasting Legacy for My Son, and The Cold War Called COVID-19, all recommended by Ebonyi State Ministry of Education and currently sold in the markets.
