Ohanaeze Youth Council (OYC), Ebonyi State, Wednesday called on traditional rulers in the state to wake up to their responsibilities and ensure that the 2023 governorship election in the state was not for the highest bidder.
The youths visited the traditional rulers of the state and advocated for a level playing ground for all the political actors in the next general election.
The Ohanaeze Youth Council (OYC), Ebonyi State, further called on politicians from the eastern region to work hard and get the presidential tickets of the two dominant parties in the country, the All Progressives Congress (APC) and People’s Democratic Party(PDP) for 2023 general elections.
In a statement signed by Chairman of the council, Chief Michael Abagha Obiahu, and Onwe Emmanuel, Secretary, the Igbo youths appealed to other regions to support the Nigerian President of Igbo extraction in the 2023 general elections.
“The people should not be convinced to vote for a leader that has the interest of the masses at heart. We need a leader that is God-fearing and has an understanding of the plight of the people”, the youths said.
OYC commended Engr David Umahi for the outstanding programs and policies he has brought to Ebonyi state especially in infrastructure.
They also appreciated Igbo elders for their responsible approach to the federal government during which they sought for the release of the leader of Indigenous People of Biafra(IPOB), Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, pointing out that his release was the only thing that would bring lasting peace.
