Ebonyi State indigenes in the Republic of China have appealed to the different wearing communities in the state to eschew violence and embrace peace, especially in this yuletide season.
Comrade Stanley Emeka Uzor, an Ambassador of peace, and the chairman association of Ebonyi indigenes in China made the appeal in Abakaliki, Ebonyi state southeast Nigeria while interacting with journalists on Wednesday.
Uzo noted that the rate of the communal crisis recorded in some parts of the state was worrisome and driving investors out of the state.
He commended the state government for the massive transformation of the state in infrastructure and called on the people to embrace peace to have more development.
"We are here for the very fact that the Association of Ebonyi indigenes in China wants peace in the state. We are here to call on all the warring parties to know that the one who kills his brother is not a strong man. we are here to appeal, to say No! to the crisis in our state we are not happy that in various areas of our state that a lot of crisis has been going on killing our brothers, sisters or wives, and children we are not happy that it is going that way.
"So we are here in China first and foremost, thank the state government for its efforts in making sure that peace is restored. we also thank the security operatives for how far they have gone in curtailing the crisis and we also encourage them to do more. We are also happy about how our state has been transformed In an infrastructural wise and other areas, we are saying that we should use this festive period to build unity and love.
"The waring communities should, please drop their weapons let's come together as one. We here in China are from different local governments of Ebonyi state but we don't discriminate, we do not see ourselves as different people we do things together and that love is what I want in Ebonyi.
"Because when the state is conducive we can come home and invest and other people who are not Ebonyians can also come and invest but when there is a crisis nobody will come home and make the investment so there is a need, an urgent need for peace.
He charged the security operatives to do more in fishing out those behind the crisis in the state.
According to him, a crisis can not last for a month and when such happens, "you know that somebody somewhere is sponsoring it either for political reasons or for communal reasons, to show the power of supremacy to a weaker community so security should do more, fish out the perpetrators and bring them to book.
The law is not a respecter of any man whoever is involved should be arrested and prosecuted accordingly". He said
He further explained that the association is not a political organization rather an umbrella body that brings all Eboniyans in China together but supports political office holder who is working for the benefit of the poor masses.
As the political actors prepare for the 2023 election he said, " The charge advice I am giving to my people is that politics should not be a do-or-die affair we must not kill each other to get power it should be turned by turn. If you try now and the people said it is not you that they want you can wait for next time you must not go extreme to destroy another in other to get what you want.
we are approaching 2023 and a lot of people are warming up for different political positions but let's know that everyone must not be in a position at the same time. So we are saying enough of these killings be it political, or communal, and whoever is behind the crisis should be brought to book".
