The Ebonyi State Urban Indigenous Association has celebrated her 2021 end of the year party in a grand style in Abakaliki and appreciated the leadership ingenuity and developmental strides of Governor David Umahi across the Thirteen Local Government Areas of the State.
In his welcome address, the President of the Association Hon. Enya Christopher said the Association was formed to bring together Eboyians and non Eboyians residing the urban area together, adding since formation of the Association in 2017, it has recorded many modest achievements and registration of numerous members in the State.
He noted that the Association has rendered a lot of financial assistance to the members including residential accommodation, settling of hospital bills and many others towards ameliorating plights of the people.
He enjoined illustrious sons and daughters of the State to join them and appealed for the support of the State Government and well spirited individuals to assist them by providing office for the association and vehicle for the easy discharge of their duties.
He further pledged the Association's support to the Government of Ebonyi State ably led by Engr. David Umahi also assured to be supporting every Governor in power for the overall growth and development of the State.
However, the Chairman lauded the Deputy Governor of the State Brr. Kelechi Igwe, Speaker of Ebonyi State House of Assembly Hon. Francis Nwifuru, Member representing Ikwo/ Ezza Federal Constituency at the National Assembly Hon. Chinedu Ogah, Chairman of All Progressive Congress in Ebonyi State Hon. Stanley Okoro Emegha among others for their supports and prayed God to lift them higher in their future endeavors, while promising that the Association would continue to work with them at all times.
Earlier, the chairman of the Occasion Dr. Elias Oduma expressed satisfaction over the massive turn out of the people, advised them to prioritize on unity, peace, harmony for the growth of the Association.
He encouraged them to continue to do the needful by living above board and embrace the spirit of accommodation, love one another among others for the interest of all the members.
He added that the association is open for everyone both indigene and non indigene residing in the capital City, stating the association readiness to ensure everyone living in the Abakaliki Capital City is giving a fair treatment.
He seized the opportunity and poured an encomiums to the State Governor David Umahi whom he said has performed beyond his campaign promises and has also put the State in National grid, while calling on the members to embrace God in all their life endeavors and wished them successful Christmas celebration.
In an interview, Mr Abbah Ifeanyi tasked the members to be focus, dedicated, loyal and honesty to boost the image of the association, adding the formation of the association has bridged the gap between the indigenes and non indigenes in the State and it is devoid of discrimination.
A member of the Association Peter Nkwuda described the coming together of the people as welcome development and advised them to be resolute and show commitment to lift the Association to the greater height.
Meanwhile, the event witnessed drama presentation, inauguration of the Zonal Coordinators, women leaders among others.
