As Christians in Ebonyi State join their brothers in Christ across other global communities of the world, to observe this year's Christmas celebration, people have been advised to use this period to promote love, unity and peaceful coexistence in the society.
In his well articulated Christmas message, the Chairman, Revenue Mobilization, Allocation and Fiscal Commission, Chief Elias Mbam, outlined the significance of Christmas to include: love, peace, unity, forgiveness, sharing and tolerance, which he stressed that every Ebonyian should embrace in memory of this yuletide.
"We should learn to love ourselves, we should learn to tolerate each person's shortcomings and share from what God has given to us particularly to the less privileged. We should have peace in the state because Jesus Christ is a man of peace. He came to the world because God loves the world. So, all these essence of Christmas should be translated to our every day's activities", he concluded.
Chief Mbam while interacting with the press in his home town, Nwofe in Izzi L.G.A, encouraged the leaders to understand that leadership is all about sacrifice and service to humanity and as such anybody who aspires to lead should first of all access him or herself in order to determine his or her capabilities before coming out to take the mantle of leadership.
Similarly, in their goodwill messages, the SA to the Governor on Local Government, Chieftaincy Matters and Rural Development, Hon. Collins Agbo, the member representing Abakaliki, North Constituency in Ebonyi State House of Assembly, Hon. Mrs. Franca Okpo, A member 1 in Ebonyi State Secondary Education Board and former Honourable member EBSHA, Mr. Ogbu Anthony and his former Honourable member counterpart, Hon. Biddy Nwali, all in their separate interviews with the press in Abakaliki, noted that Christmas is a period of remembering the less privileged and the time to reconcile with one another according to the teachings of Jesus Christ.
Also, a philanthropy and successful businessman, Mr. Chigbo Nwite, while celebrating Christmas with the less privileged in his home town Amegu Ndunkwegu in Abakaliki L.G.A, emphasized the need for cheerful giving, adding that whatever one has in this life is by God's grace, and as such, should be used to make impacts in the lives of others especially those that have not been privileged to sit in rows with the eminences.
