The National University Commission has approved the commencement of degree courses at the Savannah Institute of technology, Abakaliki Ebonyi State southeast Nigeria.
The Institution located in the Ishieke area of the state shall now offer a bachelor of science in Computer Science and business administration.
Kenneth Uwah the promoter of the institution, announced this to journalists in Abakaliki on Saturday and said that the degree courses will be offered from the 2020/2021 academic year in affiliation with the federal university Wukari.
Uwah said the NUC approval came after their Resource Assessment visit to the institution in September 2021.
He urged students who desire to study in the institution to apply through JAMB as their school fees are affordable with a serene environment for studies.
The promoter of the school further explain that due to the increasing rate of unemployment in the country they work with the national directorate of employment, (NDE) and SEMDAN to promote entrepreneurship among their undergraduates.
He said the school also awards national diploma certificates accredited by the National Board for technical education (NBTE) and in addition, offers pre-degree and specialized certificate and diploma programs.
Some of the ND courses the school offers include ND Business Administration, Computer Science, and statics among others.
According to Uwah, their affiliation to the federal university Wukari with over seven faculties will provide opportunities for Savannah institute to build on the school commitment to the development of the skills and competencies of young men and women in information technology and Entrepreneurship to have the capacity for self-reliance, wealth creation, and global mobility.
"With affiliation to a top federal university and extensive global contacts, our students will have ready opportunities for collaboration with students from other parts of Nigeria and the world as well as access to the knowledge base of academic staff and resources at the parent university and other collaborating institutions. These will deepen their experiences and potentials. He said.
" We shall deploy services that will enable students to have access to information resources, anywhere, anyplace, at any time, and promote lifelong learning.
He assured that every student will have the opportunity to participate in entrepreneurial activities to promote future ambitions.
