*Declares open doors in 2022
BY JAMES NWAKPA
In the spirit of Christmas and new year celebration, an Ebonyi born Catholic Priest and Founder, Samuel Omogo Foundation, based in United States of America, Rev. Fr. (Dr.) Peter Okwo Eze Omogo, has commended the Catholic Bishop of Abakaliki Diocese, His Lordship, Most Rev. Dr. Peter Chukwu Nworie, the Bishop Emeritus, His Lordship, Most Rev. Dr. Michael Nnachi Okoro, and spiritual leaders and Christians all over the world for their steadfastness irrespective of the economic downturn and health challenges facing the global communities of the world.
Rev. Fr. Omogo while celebrating new year with his people at his country home, Umu Ogudoshia Ngbo, stresses the need for love and selfless service to humanity, and encouraged people never to defer or neglect responsibilities but should use whatever opportunity they have to help those around them as they may not be privileged to revisit their chances of rendering services to the humanity.
"My message to our people of Ebonyi is message of peace and love. Love in the sense that this year is expected to be a year of blessings, bearing in mind what our society globally has gone through with Covid-19 pandemic between last year and this year. Hundreds of thousands of people have died because of the pandemic and we that are alive have reasons to thank God, and that is why I have decided to celebrate with my own people to share my blessings with others", he stated.
The Catholic Cleric who has been known and highly revered for his commitment in providing social amenities, has come up with the project of drilling ninety three boreholes this year, adding to the total number of four hundred and sixty boreholes which he has executed across different communities in all parts of Ebonyi State, through his foundation, Samuel Omogo Foundation, irrespective of tribal and religious differences.
He advised the people to improve on their skills and to always work hard in order to make a fortune and to enable them overcome the socio-economic difficulties facing the society instead of spending much of their time in criticising the government.
The Priest who started the new year with solemn mass, observed that the world is not a final destination, and as such, people should dedicate themselves to the service of God and endeavour to do good to all manner of people without discrimination.
He declared open doors for all and sundry, and presented his people with bags of rice and other kinds of material items which added to the memory and beauty of the yuletide.
In an interview, some of the community members who were overwhelmed with Fr. Omogo's magnanimity, including Mrs. Ude Alice, Mrs. Jennet Ogba, Mr. Ali David and Mr. Frederick Udu, all expressed their happiness for his benevolent gestures in assisting the less privileged, and prayed God to continue blessing him as he continues to work in the Lord's vineyard, to the glory of God and for the benefit of mankind.
