Following the controversy surrounding Section 84(12) of the Electoral Act, 2022, Governor David Nweze Umahi has directed all the political appointees from Ebonyi State, who were elected as delegates to the National Convention of the All Progressives Congress, APC holding Saturday 26th March 2022, to inform their substitutes to move to Abuja tomorrow, for the exercise.
The State Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Barr Cletus Ofoke made this announcement on Thursday, on Ebonyi News Platform for Update.
According to Ofoke, "the National Caretaker Extraordinary Convention Planning Committee of APC has declared that all political appointees who were elected as delegates to the National Convention slated for 26th March 2022 shall not vote given the controversy surrounding Section 84 (12) of the Electoral Act, 2022."
"In view of this, therefore, His Excellency, the Governor of Ebonyi State and Leader of APC in Ebonyi State, Engr Chief David Nweze Umahi has directed all concerned to inform their substitutes to be in Abuja latest tomorrow 25/3/2022 for accreditation," saying that "the political appointees can still attend as observers."
Recall that the APC has called on all delegates participating in its National Convention to bring along with them, a government recognised ID Card, including FRSC Drivers License, Permanent Voters Card, International Passport and National ID Card.
Alhaji Tijjani Musa Tumsah, the
Secretary Accreditation Sub-committee, who announced this on Thursday, said, "this is very important as it will be the only means of identity that will grant you access for Accreditation."
