A non-governmental organisation known as Izhi Tehu Foundation, ITF in Ebonyi State has called for massive voter registration by the people at the voting age in the state.
The acting President of the foundation, Mr Christopher Igwe, made the call on Saturday while addressing journalists in Abakaliki, Ebonyi State Capital.
Igwe who described a voter card as a weapon of any person at the voting age, urged individuals not yet registered, to quickly do the voter registration and collect their permanent voter cards, PVCs, to enable them to choose their preferred candidates come 2023 elections.
The President who was extensively passionate about the Izhi governorship agenda said the foundation would do whatever within its power to ensure Izhi person becomes the governor of Ebonyi State in 2023.
"We should understand that our voter cards are our power, therefore, we should massively do the registration in Izhi land. All our people at the voting age who are yet to register should quickly do that without any further delay.
"We are strongly behind Izhi governorship agenda, and our concern now is to ensure everybody at voting age in Izhi land do the ongoing voter registration and collect his/her PVC before election.
"So, my appeal to all Izhi people at voting age is that they should please endeavour to do their voter registration, without any further delay if you know you haven't registered," he said.
Igwe, however, said the foundation will continue to stand tall in promoting peace, unity, progress and overall development of the Izhi clan to give hope to its people, especially the teeming youths.
He expressed the preparedness of the foundation to ensure the sustainability of the culture and tradition of the Izhi nation, by not allowing the foreign vitalities to annihilate the hard-earned cultural heritage of the Izhi people.
Given this, the ITF President urged all the Ebonyi State governorship aspirants from Izhi land, to begin to think of robbing minds within themselves to have a consensus candidate in their respective political parties before the primary election would take place.
According to him, "all the state governorship aspirants from Izhi land should not play politics of rancour, because I have heard that many of them have purchased nomination forms.
"But we the members of ITF wish to advise them to begin to think of having a consensus candidate. They should not play politics of rancour, because they are one Izhi people and there is no how two people will be the governor of one state at the same time. We urge them to step down for one person when the need arises, believing that we are going to give them unwavering support as a people."
He equally warned youths against involving themselves in social vices, advising them to be hardworking, portraying a good attitude and venturing on skills acquisition and entrepreneurship development to make a better livelihood.
