-- Family members Vow to uphold father's legacies

The Ebonyi State Governor, Engr. Chief David Umahi has commiserated with the family of the Member representing Abakaliki South in the Ebonyi State House of Assembly, Hon. Joseph Ununu and his former Senior Technical Assistant, the Principal Big Bird Chambers, Barr. Sunday Ubuntu as well as the family members over the death of their beloved father Chief Ununu Uguru Itumo, popularly known as Oke Anu who died in his 115 years.
Umahi made the commiseration during the burial of the Patriarch in his country home, Okpanku Village, Ndiegu Okpuitumo Community in Abakaliki Local Government Area of the State.
The Governor represented at the event by his Deputy Brr Kelechi Igwe admonished the bereaved family to take solace in God because their late father lived a life worthy of emulation while on earth.
The Governor who described death as inevitable and debt every mortal must pay one day said that the death of the patriarch is the will of God while urging the people to cry low as God would give them the fortitude to bear the irreplaceable loss.
In their tributes, the Speaker of Ebonyi State House of Assembly Rt. Hon Francis Nwifuru, the member representing Ezza South/ Ikwo Federal Constituency Comrade Chinedu Ogah, the Deputy Speaker EBHA Hon. Kinsley Ikoro, the Chairman of Edon Group of companies Architect Edward Nkwegu, the chairman of Abakaliki Local council Hon. Emmanuel Nwangele and his counterpart of Ebonyi Mrs Chinyere Nwogbaga thanked God for the glorious 115 years Late Ununu Itumo Uguru lived on earth before he joined his ancestors, counting on the numerous contributions of the patriarch to humanity and prayed for the repose of his soul.
Also in their tributes, the member representing Izzi East constituency Hon. Anthony Nwegede, the Commissioner for lands Chief Emmanuel Uguru, the Permanent Secretary Ministry of Health Dr Chris Achi among others noted that although it is difficult to restrain tears regardless of the age of the deceased enjoined them to wipe their tears and lead their family members to celebrate the death of the social crusader for education and Community leader per excellent.
In their separate speeches, the sons of the deceased including Hon. Joseph Ununu, Barr Sunday Ununu, Mr Nwabueze Ununu and a grandson Comrade Onyekachi Ununu, observed that before the death of their father, he was a renowned farmer, a bridge-builder, a distinguished community leader who epitomized peace, kindness, unity, love, transparency, honesty, accountability and selflessness.
While the family members promised to uphold their father's legacies, they prayed to God to grant his soul eternal rest and commended those who shared their grief while wishing them well.
Amongst the dignitaries who attended the burial included, the Secretary to the State Government Dr Kenneth Ugbala, the General Manager Ebonyi Rice World Hon. Mathew Uguru, President Oha Izzi Eze Sunday Oketa, the Izzi Lagos based traditional ruler Eze Cyprian. Nwekee as well as traditional rulers, Business Moguls, religious leaders and other distinguished personalities from all walks of life.
