A socio-political organisation known as the Mass Movement for Good Governance in Ebonyi Local Government Area of Ebonyi State, Wednesday in Abakaliki endorsed the Chief Executive Officer of EDON Nigeria Limited, Arc. Dr Edward Nkwegu is its consensus candidate for the state governorship position in 2023.
Nkwegu is one of the 2023 frontline governorship aspirants under the platform of the All Progressives Congress, APC in Ebonyi State.
The organisation through its Leader, Chief John Obiya described Arc Nkwegu as a Godsent leader, that is capable of succeeding Governor David Nweze Umahi in considering his antecedents.
According to him, "as we are calling for everybody's support for the victory of Sir Arc Dr Edward Nkwegu, come 2023, we should note he is the only person among all the guber-aspirants who have what it takes to consolidate the achievements of the present and past administration in Ebonyi State.
"One, EDON is an industrialist and administrator who has used his wealth of entrepreneurial prowess to touch humanity in mega style.
"Looking around, you will testify that EDON has built great people from his private ventures, and all of them have become the makers and shakers of the society, particularly in Ebonyi State today. The payback time, for EDON, is now and I'm must tell you, that, we must vote massively for his victory come to the 2023 governorship election in this state," he said.
He further stated that Nkwegu's humane character, God-fearing spirit and industriousness, will be added advantages to him, to make it easier for his victory, in the forthcoming election.
He urged Ebonyi people to rally for his success in the gubernatorial race while describing him as a man of peace and detribalized leader.
He noted that Nkwegu's wide experience through his encounters with the international communities, will enable him to introduce laudable creativity enterprises, and innovative opportunities for Ebonyi citizens to benefit in vast crumples.
Chief Obiya appealed to the Ebonyi State Governor, Engr David Umahi to lend Arc Edward Nkwegu all the necessary backing with the stakeholders of the state for his 2023 governorship race to come to fruition, believing that Nkwegu would not disappoint Ebonyi citizens if emerged as the Chief Servant of the state.
On his part, Hon Sunday Aleke, the Secretary of the Movement observed that the previous assignment, which was carried out by Nkwegu, has been speaking volumes of his expected good administration if he emerged as the governor of the state.
He commended Governor Umahi's developmental strides in Ebonyi and expressed confidence that if EDON becomes the next governor of the state, would consolidate Umahi's achievements while in office.
In addition, Surveyor Emmanuel Mbafu, a member of the organisation, pointed out that when Arc Nkwegu was appointed the Chairman of Federal Special Public Work by President Muhammad Buhari, exhibited great integrity and praiseworthy democratic composition, thereby accommodating all the parts of the state, without fear or favour.
He said Nkwegu is accessible and has both creative and administrative vigors to oversee humans and their resources, with the assurance that, the governor hopeful, would get the Ebonyi State more advanced, calling on all and sundry to give him unwavering support to emerge the state governor in 2023.
