The Executive Chairman of Ebonyi Local Government Area, Chief Mrs Chinyere Nwogbaga has urged all Izzi people to vote massively for the Speaker, Ebonyi State House of Assembly, Mr Francis Nwifuru to emerge the State Governor in the 2023 general elections.
Mrs Nwogbaga also pleaded for the exact support for the APC Candidate, Ebonyi North Senatorial District, Barr Onyekachi Nwebonyi and all other party candidates in 2023.
The Chairman stated this during the visitation of the Nkaliki Echara Unuphu Community in Ebonyi LGA by the Izzi Forum for Inclusive Good Governance and the Traditional Rulers of Izzi extraction to address the need for all Izzi people to vote for one candidate for the governorship position in 2023.
She said: “Let’s unite and vote for one candidate, Ogbonna Nwifuru under the platform of All Progressive Congress APC for the governorship position."
She commended Governor David Umahi of Ebonyi State for standing on equity by ensuring that Izzi man becomes his successor in 2023.
Nwogbaga equally called on the Izzi people to come out massively to vote for the APC candidates contesting LG Chairmanship and ward councillorship positions on Saturday, the 30th July 2022.
The Chairman of Izzi Forum for Inclusive Good Governance, Mr Dustan Nwogbaga, said the kindred issue should not be allowed to serve as a hindering factor against Izzi's political interest but to strive to get more positions for Izzi Nation.
“We should not use the issue of kindred and should never be the thing that will take away our Governorship position, rather should be our strength as we push the struggle forward.
“All who have contested for the governorship position in other political parties should come together, let’s have one candidate for the governorship position and which is Francis Nwifuru in APC,” he said.
The Former State Attorney General, Barrister Vincent Nwokpo unveiled that izzi Nation is not contesting for the state governorship posit with anybody, describing the contest as a done deal.
He explained that the state governorship position has gone round to all the Senatorial Districts, and it is now the turn of Ebonyi North, saying the Izzi Nation should be considered to take the slot under the spirit of fairness, social justice and equity.
He added that "the Izzi Forum for Inclusive Good Governance and Izzi Traditional Rulers are out to ensure that Izzi 2023 Governorship Project doesn’t fail."
The President of Oha Izhi Nnodo, HRH Eze Sunday Nkwegu Oketa and the Chairman of the Izzi Traditional Rulers Council, HRH Eze Fidelis Nwonumara said all Izzi indigenes and residents should vote for Ogbonna Nwifuru to become the Governor, come to the 2023 General Election.
The duo noted that "Izzi people's hospitable life can never be compared to other clans in Ebonyi State, saying that there would be more kindness to all residents in the Izzi clan if Nwifuru becomes the State Governor.
The National President, Onwa oferekpe Foundation, Mr Keneth Nwovu said political parties and politicians came with divide and rule by using kindred dichotomy but Izzi people have realized their plans and it will not work this time around, since in his words, "we Izzi people are now united than ever to resist everything that wants to deny us producing Governor of Ebonyi State in 2023. We are all fighting for our rights, it is our turn, other zones should please support us."
The Chairman, Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru FON Movement in Ebonyi State, Comrade Emenike Chinedu advised youths to turn out to vote massively for Nwifuru as the Governor of the state in 2023.
He assured that "youths and women empowerment will be rampant in our government.
Recall that the Prime Minister of Nkaliki Echera Autonomous Community, Chief George Nwiboko, the Chairman of Amike-Aba Development Union, Chief Dan Enigwe and the APC Chairmanship Candidate in Ebonyi Local Government Area for the forthcoming council polls in the state, Prince Chinedu Uburu, described the movement for inclusive good governance as a welcome development.
They expressed their readiness to step down the campaign to 'village to village', and 'house to house' in the area to ensure massive support for the candidacy of Nwifuru, to emerge the Governor of Ebonyi State in 2023.
They called for massive voter registration, noting that they have been championing the course within the area to ensure every qualified voter gets registered and obtained his/her Permanent Voter Card (PVC) before the 2023 general elections.
