PRESS STATEMENT
The attention of the leadership of the ruling All Progressives Congress APC in Ebonyi State has been drawn to the purported and ill-fated media publication where some alleged serving councillors claimed to have accepted the Judgement of the Federal High Court which nullified the July 30th Local Government elections over tenure disagreement hence supporting that the planned inauguration should not hold.
To put the record straight and vilify the misguided, the ruling party wishes to state as follows:
1. That the purported meeting as cited in the publication never happened hence you cannot put something on anything and expect it to stand.
2. That the alleged serving councillors, who claimed to be members of APC did not follow the process as encapsulated in their legal document before coming up with the cancerous publication hence no one gives what he doesn't have. Lawyers will always say "Nemo dat quod no habit".
3. That the said Judgement has since been quashed by another court of coordinated jurisdiction through an Ex-parte order obtained by the genuinely elected officials at the July 30th council polls in the state. In the eyes of the law, the latest judgement has rendered the previous ineffective hence the inauguration will go on as planned.
4. That the Ebonyi State House Assembly made new law in 2020 that reduced the tenure of local government elected officials from 3 to 2 years. This law still subsists to date.
5. That the party has launched a comprehensive inquest into the matter to unravel the leprous hand behind the publication which tends to disparage and mislead the good people of Ebonyi State. The act constitutes a public nuisance and must be treated as such.
6. That the true identity of the people that allegedly baked the evil snacks must be made public because Ebonyi people are known for good conduct.
7. That at the end of the unbiased investigation that anyone or persons found culpable will face the full weight of the law to serve as a deterrence to others.
8. That the ruling party is urging all stakeholders, the local government elected officials and the general public to disregard the purported media publication and come out en mass to witness the historic Inauguration scheduled to hold on the 1st of September, 2022 at the Pa Ngele Oruta township stadium.
