On media watchword for the 2023 General Elections in Nigeria, Egede Lawrence writes.
Those of us who can see far beyond the immediate vicinity and talk, warn and alert people about the dangers ahead of us are oftentimes ignored by those who hardly observe revelations.
Personified politics had killed the potentialities of Nigeria, yet politicians are ignorant about it.
Mega Political Parties are the worst in it and they don't heed warnings until they hit the hard rocks. Let them be careful now.
PDP's bitter experience of failure in 2015 because of ignorance, pride and overconfidence was an example of eight years ago.
I thank God for the way He re-echoes the voices of people, who have been taken for a ride a long time because of politics.
The 2023 general elections will produce surprises, for those political parties that impose Candidates on the electorate.
This time around if political parties find it difficult to make the right choices, it will tell on their plans to succeed in 2023.
Fielding the right choices will make it competent, enjoyable, interesting and justified for the winner to carry people along.
Any wrong choice that wins an election because of influence is lazy, incompetent and out of it.
The reason is that a lazy and incompetent winner will soon derail and become proud of having a cheap entry because of free-of-charge influence, and may later be defiantly personal in his or her responses to core issues and it will be disastrous.
Except where conspiracy took political refuge underneath, to undermine normalcy it is going to be foolhardy thinking of using the wrong tools to win the 2023 elections during daylight.
I have watched how people behave, what they say, what they expect and what they will do on the days of casting votes.
Now, let me tell us that money can no longer buy votes from the electorate, in the markets of franchises today for one reason.
The reason is that people don't see money as a priority means to sell their rights, for diversion of votes against whoever they have in mind and they are very serious about it at this early hour.
The majority of the electorate has made up their minds that if for any reason the choice/s they expect is not fielded, the next thing is to withdraw from voting any other person found unworthy.
Some said instead of voting for the wrong candidate, their votes will go for any other person in the race with another political party. They see it as to protest against any disappointment.
Some said they have their own choices of Candidates, but that if money flows from any angle it is acceptable to them for the fact that political funds belong to everybody. That's their tone.
They said that on the day of voting it will be according to their conscience, not for the highest bidder but necessarily for their established choice/s.
Some said that the politicians are stingy when they are not in the race, but when they require people to vote for them money will start flowing into the game.
Some who are very mature say they are standing firm for their choice/s, no matter the option for any political party that fields any other person contrary wise.
In the case of the mature ones, they didn't name their choice/s of Candidates, nor the political party they target to vote for and it is a big palaver opening up.
On the issue of political mass mobilizations from now till then, many youths and some Adults are only joining the bandwagon because of the expected inflow of financial involvement if any.
But still, what they have up their sleeves nobody can tell till the days of voting come into effect. Yet it is a choice palaver.
I am still gathering more public opinions about the Candidates that individuals are choosing, as their main targets for voting in the 2023 general elections are still very obscure apart from the happenings at this fresh moment.
So, it is time for political parties to shine their eyes now before it is too late to effect changes on Candidates, instead of trying to impose any Candidate on the electorate that is only waiting for the "D" day quietly in privacy.
God himself will agree with the voices of the electorate looking at the philosophy of Vox Populi Vox Dei, a true Latin language.
To God is the glory forever.
