Just in three (3) days after resuming office, the newly inaugurated Executive Chairman of the Izzi Local Government Area of Ebonyi State, Hon Stephen Emenike Nwamkpa commenced a full sanitation exercise in the council area.
The Chairman also flagged off a tree planting exercise to boost the aesthetic and economic status of the council area.
Barrister Nwamkpa who said that the environmental clean-up drill was in fulfilment of his campaign promises, toured the council area with the executives and members of the Onwa Oferekpe Foundation, the non-governmental organisation canvassing for the victory of the Ebonyi State Governorship Candidate of the All Progressives Congress, Rt. Hon. Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru in 2023.
Barrister Nwakpa in a statement by his social media pal, Chris Otah, said his decision was in pursuit of a greener and healthier Izzi Council Area under his watch.
"The Chairman today flagged off clean-up and planting exercise of an economic tree at the Izzi Council headquarter, Iboko," Otah said.
He further stated: "The Chairman promised the Izzi council people who massively participated in the exercise, that he shall restore the lost glory of the council area."
He added: "Visiting the council area on his third day of office was a start in fulfilling his campaign promises.
"The transformation of the council vicinity is part of his plans and he has assured of making clean-up exercise, a compulsory one in the area.
"Iboko shall be habitual again and will attract gainful opportunities to the council people."
The flagged off of the sanitation and tree planting exercises attracted the presence of Hon. Anthony Nwegede - member representing Izzi East constituency in Ebonyi State House of Assembly, Hon. Simon Iseh - the Deputy National President of Onwa Oferekpe Foundation - Hon. Jeremiah Nwankwegu - the President of the Onwa Oferekpe Foundation in the Izzi Local Government Chapter and a host of others from the area.
