Lawrence Egede on this media detection of lack of focus to end terrorism as a result of political interest writes.
If Nigeria was prepared for war against terrorists of all sorts, the cankerworm shouldn't have lasted till today, the leaders are at fault because of having more interest in politics than security.
The Nigerian civil war between 1967 and 1970 wasn't such that the country saw afar off until it broke out as a very emergency one. It came as a result of fear.
The fear of marginalization and imperialism gripped the men in uniform on sectional suspicion.
The war took people unawares everywhere within a territory in the nation and produced panic, damaging lives and properties, weighing more on one side of Nigeria with economic harm.
It didn't engulf the entire nation but upturned justice, peace and tranquillity of the sovereignty of Nigeria, causing loss of external recognition and loss of internal balance to a period of hostility.
From then till now, despite the twisted makeup on the lips of the nation as one Nigeria, what is crying foul is still crying foul.
Before now after nearly forty years of the post-war era, all levels of terrorist dimensions began to surface and gradually spread out ugly wings in bolder conjunction with the crimes of bad political situation report.
The involvement of political crime waves, corruption, and false posture, confirmed the problem as a domestic flop of Nigeria's integrity and failure of adequate patriotism, because of greed on the part of the avaricious elites.
The elites in the nation's Apex frontline of politics encouraged terrorism as a deliberate battle against the nation, because of power play for supremacy and control ruining the economy.
Now at sixty-two years of the nation's Independence, further terrorism continued to torment the nation, seeing she was not well prepared for waging a war against it. The rage is still there.
The worst of all is that the war only affects the innocent ones, who are supposed to be going about their legitimate businesses without torment.
In a war situation coupled with economic fold-up in a nation of wealthy disposition, where it is only politics that qualifies many persons to occupy positions of power and authority, without a prepared ground for productive preoccupation, the result could be suicidal to human existence.
Productive living scares away crimes that are mostly caused by mental boredom which can result in evil thinking appearing in hostility. It grows terrorism.
Terrorism has a link with it in many harmful ways if there is no productive living involved.
Terrorism in turn scares away adequate security and in such a situation investors do run away.
If there is no security there will be no investors, if investors run away there will be no business investments, and if there are no investments there won't be any plantation of industrial outlets.
Furthermore, if industries aren't established, job opportunities are lost and crimes may follow because of idleness in a nation.
Lack of jobs, idleness, crimes and hostility go together and can be dangerous to an extent that terrorism will emerge and becomes an emergency task.
Emergency tasks are not often expected and if such a situation arises or arose, the only healing method is to focus all attention on it and invest more to tackle it to finish. There's no alternative.
Because emergency tasks do come unawares to people and no preparedness to tackle the problem, that's why I said that Nigeria was never ready for war against terrorism and it lasted till today. The facts are there.
The facts are that politics has blinded the eyes of the leaders in this country and they cannot see anymore. That's why there is fire on the mountain as regards the extent to which terrorism, banditry, kidnapping, occultism and political power play on top of the nation's economic flop.
So, Nigerian leaders should be awake and find lasting solutions to the terrorism problem now, before it does more damage to people and the country.
To God is the glory forever.
