Ebonyi State Governor David Umahi has placed a conditional ban on political rallies in both primary and Secondary Schools in the state.

Governor Umahi started this during the Stakeholder Summit on Citizens' Input and Consultation for the 2023 Budget estimate and Nigeria's 2023 Pollution and Housing Census in Abakakilki on Monday.
He also banned commercial motorcycle operators in the state from 7 pm to 6 am.
According to him, before any political rallies, including the All Progressive Congress (APC) must get approval from the Commissioner for Education.
He decried the spate of hate speeches among candidates of political parties and tasked all politicians to desist from the act.
"Let me make it clear that before any political rallies can hold in both primary and secondary schools in the state from November 1, political Parties must get approval from the state ministry of education.
"No political campaign must hold in any public schools and this is our position," the Governor added.
The governor disclosed that on the 2023 Budget estimate, a large chunk would be channelled towards education, infrastructure, health, and agriculture among others.
The State Commissioner for Finance and Economic Development, Mr Orlando Nweze said that over N139 billion was estimated as the budget for the 2023 fiscal year.
