Bishops from various denominations in the southeast region, on Friday, insisted that a clergyman must be produced as the next governor of Ebonyi state, com to the 2023 general election.
The Bishops under the aegis of the World Igbo Remnants, WIR, made this known through its National President, Prophet Dr Vincent David Elijah, shortly after a one-day prayer that took place in Abakaliki, the capital of Ebonyi state.
The President, Elijah called on citizens of the state from the 13 LGA to rally support for any clergyman that is participating in the governorship contest to come to the 2023 general election.
The Bishops, however, anointed Prophet Chris Adol-Awam, the General Overseer of the Eternal Light Christian World Church, who is the governorship candidate of the New Nigeria People's Party, NNPP, to succeed Governor David Umahi in 2023.
The clergymen noted that it's time for darkness to disappear from the state, insisting that light must shine, rule and take over the governance of Ebonyi State, come 2023.
According to him: "World Igbo Remnants, WIR, are all over the Federation and the world at large. Here in Ebonyi state, we are raging up to 5,000 Clergymen. This great body wishes to associate with one of us, Prophet Chris Adol-Awam, the Guber candidate of NNPP.
"There are many other candidates from other political parties, but as ministers of God, we will associate with Adol-Awam who is from our own constituency" he stated.
Earlier in a remark, the General Overseer of the Eternal Light Christian World Church, Adol-Awam commended the Bishops for anointing him to succeed Governor David Umahi in the forthcoming general elections.
He stated that he would bring light and rule Ebonyi with the direction of God if elected governor of the state come 2023.
