At the weekend, the six brotherly clans including Ezza, Ikwo, Izzi, Ngolizhia, Ezilo and Ohafia/Agba, which spread across nine out of the thirteen local government areas of Ebonyi State took to the streets of Abakaliki capital city, a solidarity walk in the support of the APC gubernatorial candidate, Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru to succeed Governor David Nweze Umahi in 2023.
The brotherly clans under the auspices of Umuekumaenyi United Youth Forum while marching in Abakaliki metropolitan area declared their support for power rotation on the state governorship seat and insisted that Ebonyi people should give massive support to Nwifuru to succeed Governor Umahi in 2023.
The President of the Forum, Prince Uche Ali Ega, stated this while addressing his members in Abakaliki at the end of the group's 2 million man march for the APC gubernatorial candidate in the state.
Prince Ali Ega appreciated Governor Umahi for his unwavering support to power rotation in Ebonyi, assuring him of their undivided backing in the 2023 polls to ensure a landslide victory for Niwifuru and other APC candidates in the state.
"Umuekumaenyi youths march for equity," he hinted.
He said the "Forum, having appraised the political developments in Ebonyi State from 1999 till date, commends the Founding Fathers of the State, for their forthrightness and unwavering belief in equity, justice and fairness, especially as regards the rotation of the seat of Governorship among the three (3) Senatorial Zones in the State."
In light of the foregoing, the forum, according to the President, therefore; appreciated "the massive developmental strides of Governor Umahi,", especially in Unwuekumenyi land.
The President added: "We sincerely commend your boldness, honesty and political will in maintaining the power rotation among the three (3) Senatorial Zones in the State, with the Governorship position having rotated from the North, Central, South and now, back to the North Zone. 2. Commends political parties in the State, concerning the charter of equity, zoned their Governorship positions to Ebonyi North Senatorial Zone, particularly to the Izzi clan.
"Having made a critical assessment of all the candidates of various political parties in the State, hereby unanimously endorses the candidature of Rt. Hon. Progressives Congress Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru, of the All (APC), is our consensus choice for the 2023 Governorship election in Ebonyi State and enjoin other critical stakeholders in the Ebonyi project to do the same."
The socio-cultural organisation called on other clans and zones in the State to kindly respect the zoning arrangement and rally around Rt. Hon. Francis Ogbonna. Nwifuru, the Gubernatorial Candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), in the spirit of equity, justice and fairness, in order not to truncate the dreams of our Founding Fathers and maintain peaceful transitions in subsequent power rotations to other zones of the State, as being preached by Governor Umahi's led administration.
The group reiterated that "being the most populous clans in the state; consisting of over seventy per cent (70%) of both landmass and citizenry of the state, insists that this equitable, fair and just decision of returning power to Unwuekumenyi must be upheld, knowing that in the event of breakdown of law and order resulting in injustice, we will be the worst hit.
Ali Ega further noted that "Unwuekumenyi is peace-loving, accommodating and generous."
He assured that the Umuekumaenyi people would continue with the already existing inclusiveness in their dealings with their brothers and sisters from other zones, clans and residents in Ebonyi State, before, during and after the 2023 general elections.
