An Ebonyi Elder Statesman, Chief Austin Edeze has described the state governorship candidate of the Labour Party, Dr Edward Nkwegu (EDON) as one of the best desiring crowned figures among the contenders for the apex seat of his state come 2023 polls.
He stated this on Sunday while speaking during the 2022 Banza Ceremony of St. Molumba's Parish, Catholic Church Azuiyiokwu of Abakaliki Diocese.
Chief Edeze, who was the 2023 gubernatorial aspirant of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP in Ebonyi, commended Dr Nkwegu for honouring the ceremony and wished him success in his governorship ambition come the next year's general elections.
"I join the Church to welcome His Excellency Arc Edward Nkwegu, one of the governorship candidates in our state. We are praying that God will support him to be our governor in 2023.
"Your Excellency Sir, welcome to St. Columba's Parish. Thank you for participating in our Banza in a very Obedient way.
"When the time reaches, we must talk, because you remain dearing to our heart," Edeze said.
Recall that the Ebonyi Labour Party governorship hopeful, Dr Edward Nkwegu had earlier noted that the architectural design of the parish's edifice was done in his office and expressed confidence in its completion soon by God's grace.
Arc Nkwegu said: "The architectural work of this edifice was done in my office and I believe that God who started this project will see to its completion in Jesus' name, Amen."
He added: "By His Grace, next year, we will come back to this place in form of government. We will allow God to take a prominent in all activities, because, He is the maker of everything and owns all the glory in Jesus' name, Amen."
Nkwegu was accompanied by his running mate, other candidates of his party, and loyalists to the ceremony.
The priests and congregation in the Church ushered prayers on Nkwegu, and other Labour Party candidates and their supporters, wishing them success ahead of the 2023 polls and their life endeavours.
While preaching the sermon, one of the Catholic Priests, Rev. Fr beedmore Okezie charged the congregation to embrace the spirit of gratitude and thanksgiving through charitable services in society.
The priest bemoaned the security challenges of the country and expressed concern about the pains passed by security personnel to defend the nation, even at the expense of their lives and that of their relatives.
He urged everyone to continue to embrace the spirit of stewardship, noting that greatness always emanates from humility and serfdom, for the well-being of many.
He observed that God values the least, cherries sincere gifts, and advised the congregation to be lovers of God and not only seeking for His miracles while stressing the indispensable nature of obedience in serving God.
"Thanksgiving is not only about giving thanks but giving self - it's all about returning our appreciation to the world, for the eternal upshot, and that's why gratitude should be considered as the greatest drive in life," the priest recapped.
