Abakaliki, Ebonyi and Izzi Local Government Areas of Ebonyi State have banned gun shootings during the electioneering campaign in their respective vicinities.

This was contained in a statement endorsed by the President General of Oha Izhi Nnodo in Ebonyi State, HRH Eze S.N Oketa and the Publicity Secretary of the organisation, Apostle Benjamin Obeji on Thursday.
Recall that the three local government areas in Ebonyi State are inhabited by the Izhi Nnodo people.
The people have condemned the recent political violence that occurred at Iboko, the Headquarters of the Izzi Local Government Area of the State, which had a score of injuries, breeding political conflict against the council.
But the Oha Izhi Nnodo, the apex socio-cultural body that superintendent over social and cultural activities in Izhi land, said it has been watching silently most of the political events in Izhi land both the good and the bad, believing that decorum will be enthroned in the polity yet day in day out, the story of attack and clashes among politicians as well as provocative and inciting statements abound.
The statement further observed that "recently, an ugly political clash occurred at Iboko in Izzi LGA where it was alleged that the convoy of Prof. Benard Odo, the APGA Gubernatorial candidate clashed with Security outfit at Iboko in Izzi local government Area in which the Coordinator of Izzi DC sustain gun shot injury. Such development is uncalled for
"Oha Izhi Nnodo therefore strongly condemn such an ugly attack on any political party on campaign in Izhi land and we call on relevant security agencies to take immediate action to fish out the perpetrators rs of the such devilish act and bring them to face the law.
"No reasonable Izhi man will support such unholy action. We sincerely sympathize with whoever that were affected during the attack and also advise all politicians violent-freet free during their campaign as Oha Izhi Nnodo will not take it lightly with any political party that launches attack on an opponent in Izhi land.
"Oha, Izhi Nnodo hereby ban any form of gun shooting for a show of support to a politician during political rallies in Izhi land. Political parties should feel free to carry their campaigns in Izhi land without molestation. Politics should not be done or die affairs."
