The arrival convoy of the Action Alliance Governorship Candidate for the 2023 general election and former Commissioner for Works and Transport, in Ebonyi State, Engr Chukwuma Nwandugo, on Sunday, shut down the state capital, Abakaliki.
Recall that supporters, fans and political associates of Nwandugo, had on Sunday, trooped out from different communities of the state and converged on Ishieke Junction, in the Ebonyi Local Government Area of the state, to welcome him, on arrival from Abuja.
The event, which saw the attendance of youths, students, civil servants and political associates, also witnessed the presence of the crème de la crème of the AA in the state.
Amid heavy security, Nwandugo's convoy and supporters thronged from the popular Ishieke Junction, causing both vehicular and human traffic within the Abakaliki metropolis and environs.
According to political watchers, all this was a pointer to the fact that the AA Governorship hopeful in the state, Nwandugo, had greater political followership, than his counterparts in other parties.
Marching through Nwambara village to Ugwuechara, Mile 50, Kpiri-Kpiri, Udensi Roundabout, Water Works Road en route Union Bank Junction, to Saint Theresa, through Afikpo Road the peaceful welcome back March, came to a halt at the Peoples Club, Abakaliki.
Addressing his supporters and fans at the Peoples Club, Engr Nwandugo, said he would fight hunger and intimidation to a standstill in the state.
Reiterating that he was sent by God to deliver the people from their current economic and political dungeon, the AA Governorship hopeful, thanked them for coming out en mass to welcome him.
He said, "To everybody, who came out in this number to welcome me, may God bless you all. I want to say a very big thank you to the Commissioner of Police, who know that today is Sunday and still gave his men to come and welcome me. To all the policemen here from the command to the headquarters, please take my thank you message back to the police commissioner. I am sincerely very grateful.
"To the Director, Department of States Services in the state, I'm grateful. To the Commandant of Nigeria Civil Service, I'm equally grateful to you all for sending your men to join us, this Sunday.
"Every officer that came here today, mark my words, it won't be up to a year and you will receive your promotion. I am also thanking the Chairman of Action Alliance in the state, all his lieutenants and other party members for their support. I want to also thank the Prophet of God, who has constantly said what God said. Let me tell everybody here: I do not know him and I have never met him. On his own, he has been looking for me, because God told him to go and look for somebody with the name Chukwuma Nwandugo."
Nwandugo added, "Let me tell everybody here that all the sufferings, all the hardship, all the intimidation, all the difficulty and all the hunger in the land are over today, in Jesus' name.
"There are people who said we are not ready to contest for Governorship. But if you go to the INEC list, Nwandugo Chukwuma (the AA Candidate) is the first name on that list. I was not the one who made it so, God made it so. Some say we are not making noise and that we are not campaigning. As far as we are concerned, we started campaigning in 2015, while some just started this in 2022. We have made a name in Ebonyi State and beyond, and nobody here would say he doesn't know Chukwuma Nwandugo."
Also speaking, Chairman of Action Alliance, in Ebonyi State, Hon. Ukwu Godwin noted that the former Works Commissioner, Nwandugo, was what the residents needed currently to take them to the promised land.
According to him, "Engr Chukwuma Nwandugo is the man that will solve the problem of the masses. He is a good listener and he knows how the masses feel and he listens to them.
"This is the man that will lead Ebonyi State to the promised land. He has the character; he has the humility; he has the contacts; he has the integrity and he has the courage. We wouldn't be here today if we don't know and believe him."
A Clergy, who earlier revealed the Divine Candidature and 'ordination' of Nwandugo as Governor come 2023, Prophet Agha Monday, maintained he was confident of what God told him about the 2023 AA Gubernatorial Project, in the state.
He said, "Chukwuma Nwandugo is the next Governor of Ebonyi State and if you need proof, I will give it to you by the power of God upon my life. Ebonyi people, This is your next governor. The Bible says that a Nation without a Prophet is doomed. I am here to congratulate you and very soon, you will see how it will happen."
