Ebonyi state chapter of the Action Alliance (AA) has condemned the recent attack on the office of the National Independent Electoral Commission, INEC in the Izzi Local Government Area of Ebonyi State.
The State Chairman of the Action Alliance, Godwin Ukwu made this known in a press release on Tuesday.
Ukwu said that "the Action Alliance(AA), Ebonyi State received with shock the news of the senseless and unwarranted attack on the office of the Independent National Electoral Commission at Iboko in Izzi Local Government Area of the state.
"The attack is not only an affront to our hard-earned nation's democracy but also an act deliberately and callously designed by undemocratic elements to frustrate the electoral process and deny eligible voters in the area their rights of the franchise in the forthcoming general elections, especially those whose permanent voter cards may have been affected by the blaze.
"We condemn in strongest terms this despicable act as we also urge our teeming supporters and Action Alliance members in the area and beyond not to be demoralized by the incident.
"In a similar vein, we call on the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and security agencies to as a matter of urgency launch a full-scale investigation into the attack to bring the perpetrators to book and to prevent future occurrence."
The party enjoined INEC to collaborate with security agencies to provide adequate security around its facilities across the state.
