...Says LP excos intact in Ebonyi State
A legal practitioner, Barr. Luke Adonwe Chibueze, who identified himself as Ebonyi State Labour Party Secretary has said that he has no intention of defecting to any other political party as published by an online media organisation.
The State LP Scribe on Sunday while reacting to an online publication alleging his defection with 14 executives of the Labour Party to the New Nigeria Peoples Party, NNP, described the report as false and misleading.
The human right activist however threatened to sue the author of the report alleging his defection to the NNPP alongside other executives of his party.
"To Godwin Aliuna, kindly do yourself a favour by recanting or addressing the said deliberate malicious cum misleading publication (for you may not hide under the impression that you never mentioned anybody's name to go Scot free from the legal sledgehammer when it comes). Be warned!!!" Adonwe said.
He had earlier stated: "My attention has been drawn to an intentionally malicious, degrading and defaming online publication credited to one Godwin Aliuna of Daily Post whereof he claimed that the Ebonyi LP Secretary and 14 other leaders defect to NNPP dated 11/11/2022.
"Ordinarily, I wouldn't have reacted because this is exactly one of the aims the dubious writer wants to achieve. That is " public attention".
"However, for record purposes, may I draw the attention of the author and the general public thus:
"The Ebonyi State Chapter of the Labour Party Secretary is Barr. Luke Adonwe Chibueze has no intention of defecting to any other political party inclusive of the writer's purported NNPP."
He maintained "that no Leadership of the Labour Party defected to any political party inclusive of the purported NNPP in Ebonyi State as the Party Leadership is intact and does not have any Leadership grouse with the leadership of the party in Ebonyi State.
"That no member of Ebonyi State Labour Party or any of the Executive members knew anything about the allegations of attending any function held by NNPP in Ebonyi State at Genezer hotels or any other place."
He urged the general public to disregard "the concocted, disjointed, malicious, misleading and grossly defamatory publications credited to one Godwin Aliuna of the Daily Post."
He added: "I seriously believe that this campaign of calumny is deliberately carried out by Godwin Aliuna to malign my person by my position as the Labour Party Secretary in Ebonyi State since we don't have two Ebonyi State LP Secretaries.
"That to buttress my point of deliberate action to malign my person, integrity and trust, I seek answers to the following questions from Godwin Alina;
I. Where are the pictorial evidence of the self-acclaimed events whereof the detection took place?
"What are the names of the Labour Party executives and portfolios?
"Why is it difficult for you to mention the name of the Ebonyi LP Secretary and whether he or she is the current secretary or past secretary of the Labour Party in Ebonyi State?"
He urged the Labour Party family both in Ebonyi State and at the National level to disregard the said malicious cum degrading publication as it is geared towards sowing seeds of discords in the party to the happiness of his paymasters the so-called NNPP Gubernatorial whatever.
Recall that the Daily Post had reported that, "No fewer than fourteen (14) executive members of Labour Party, LP, including the State secretary have defected to the New Nigeria Peoples Party, NNPP, in Ebonyi State."
According to the Daily Post, the LP members are aggrieved over the running of the party in the State, saying that the Presidential candidate of the NNPP, Musa Kwankwaso received the former LP State exco members during his one-day campaign visit to the State.
It added: "The Gubernatorial candidate of NNPP in Ebonyi State, Prophet Chris Adol-Awam made this known while addressing the national leadership of the party, together with the presidential candidate of the party, Musa Kwankwaso, during a town hall meeting which took place at the Genezer hotel, located along Onwe Road Abakaliki, capital of Ebonyi State.
Citing Adol-Awam, the media organisation reports: “we are very proud of the NNPP Presidential candidate, Kwankwaso. And, we believe that he will win the forthcoming general election as the next President of Nigeria. He can transform Nigeria.
“The members of the Labour Party are here with us and they want to work with us. The secretary, youths and women leaders have identified with us, not as spectators but as trusted and reliable members.”
It also reported that the gubernatorial candidate of NNPP, Adol-Awam inaugurated the campaign council of the Party in the State.
