The Ebonyi State Chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has united and begun brainstorming on how to return victorious in the 2023 polls.
NATIONAL PANEL learnt that the PDP seemingly collapsed in Ebonyi just because of the differences between the party stalwarts in the state, especially after their primary elections.
The PDP crisis was deepened after its primaries in the state, to the extent it tore the party chieftains into factions as they were in their bid to claim supremacy in the control of the party structure.
The party's crisis was deepened with suits and counter-suits filled by aggrieved chieftains of the party mostly those that participated in the primaries in the state.
However, normalcy has returned to the party after the supreme court quashed out all the appeals filed by the aggrieved stalwarts.
Yesterday, the party held a unity meeting at the party secretariat Abakaliki which was attended by its State officials including those from the 13 LGAs and 171 wards in the state.
The meeting which was at the instance of the governorship candidate of Chief Ifeanyi Chukwuma Odii showed that the party is united and fighting for one cause.
Interacting with newsmen shortly after the meeting, Chief Odii said, "Yes we have to unite ourselves from the house before we talk of uniting Ebonyi state."
He said that part of what his administration would do in the state is to "create an atmosphere of unity, a unity that will foster amongst us, a unity that will see us as one people, that is what you see us doing today.
"We can't do it without starting from the house, PDP is one family and PDP has come together, PDP is a winning party and PDP is a party to beat.
"I don't think anybody is hanging around, we are going to have expanded stakeholders meeting soon where you will see all the faces together and every one of them is to work for the betterment of PDP."
On efforts to curb attacks on PDP members, especially the recent attack on Mr Abia Onyike, he said, "What we are doing about it is that we are not relenting, we are trying to study it very well, PDP is not scared of anything or any Ebubeagu. We are to study the events and then we will approach it the way we think best and stop it."
Meanwhile, the state PDP Chairman, Tochukwu Okorie has described 'the party as one, united, and stronger family.' He assured of the landslide victory of the PDP at the 2023 polls in the state.
