*Hosts widows, stakeholders' Christmas Party

The Executive Chairman of Abakaliki Local Government Area of Ebonyi State, Hon Ebere Stephen Nwogba has offered a free medical outreach to some members of the council including widows, and elders who are suffering from diabetes and high blood pressure.
This was done while hosting a Christmas party with widows, and stakeholders among others at the Council Headquarters, Nkaliki.
Speaking, the chairman said his purpose of embarking on the exercise was to checkmate the high rate of blood pressure ( BP) and diabetes among people of the council, saying the early detection of the sickness will give room for an easy cure.
He noted he would establish a health centre in the council headquarters where people that have such a problem will be diagnosed and treated accordingly to improve their health status, adding the development would help to reduce the menace to its barest minimum.
According to the chairman, "I have the intention of establishing a health centre inside this LGA where people including widows will come and check their BP and also check for diabetes and be treated. That is the way we can help our people. That is our purpose of coming to serve, we are committed to changing the lives of our people"
He restated the commitment of his administration to ensuring the welfare of the people, especially the needy, saying he had mobilised the medical team to test every patient and prescribe drugs to them when necessary to restore their good health, pledging his continued support to the widows to ameliorate their sufferings.
Drogba, while commending people of the council for their support to his administration, charged every eligible voter to go to the council headquarters and collect their PVCs as it is is their only weapon to vote for Chief Francis Nwifuru and other APC candidates into power come 2023 general elections for consolidation and continuity.
However, he lauded the State Governor Engr. David Umahi for his developmental strides and for choosing the illustrious son of Ishi clan Chief Francis Nwifuru to be his successor.
In his Christmas Message, the Council chairman described Christmas as a period of love and respect for one another, especially for the less privileged.
He admonished people of the council to be the vanguard of peace by ensuring that peace reigns in all the nooks and crannies of the council and the State at large
On his part, the senior special assistant to the Governor on road maintenance, Hon Ben Nwovu and the principal big bird chamber, equity and good leadership, Barr Sunday Ununu while extolling the leadership ingenuity of the chairman within a short period in office, stressed the need for Izzi people to go and get their PVC's ready and advised youths across the State not to allow themselves to be used as an instrument of violence before, during and after the election but always preach for peace.
In a vote of thanks, the chairman of traditional rulers in Abakaliki LGA, Eze Fidelis Nwonunara said the chairman has performed excellently well within the short time he has been in the office, saying God had chosen him to salvage those in despair and called everyone to rise in appreciation to God for given them the workaholic chairman while urging the chairman not to Change in doing good and prayed God to prosper him in all his endeavours.
In an interview, some of the benefited widows including Mrs Regina Nwibo, Veronica Mbam, Mbam Igube, Nwakiriko Nkechi and Ophoke Nworu appreciated the council chairman for his kind gesture and prayed to God to reward him a hundredfold.
Highlights of the event were the distribution of undisclosed cash to traditional rulers and stakeholders, and the distribution of undisclosed cash and wrappers to the widows among others.
