Ahead of the 2023 gubernatorial elections in Ebonyi State, the members of Rachel Umahi Women have declared their total and unalloyed support to the All Progressive Congress (APC) candidate Chief Francis Nwifuru and other APC candidates towards ensuring their victory come 2023 in Ebonyi State.
The women's group stated this during their end-of-the-year party held at Osborne royal resort Abakaliki, the State capital.
Speaking, the national president of Rachel Umahi Women who also doubled as the Special Assistant to the Governor on sustainable development goals, market development and park management Dr Ngozi Obichukwu noted they are supporting Chief Francis Nwifuru for the consolidation and continuity of divine mandate leadership under Governor Umahi in the State, saying only Nwifuru would sustain the developmental tempo of Governor Umahi in the State.
She expressed the readiness of the women to embark on aggressive grassroots campaigns and woo those in opposition parties into APC and also canvassed for votes to the APC gubernatorial candidate and other APC candidates for the success of the party come 2023 general elections in the State.
The National President while thanking Governor Umahi and his wife Rachel for women's inclusiveness in the present administration, said that Governor Umahi has performed beyond his campaign promises, describing him as the most gender-sensitive Governor in the Country and added that coalition of women would soon host Umahi in appreciation to him for the inclusiveness of women in his administration.
She reiterated the efforts of the women in ensuring he wins his senatorial ambition come 2023 and urged every eligible voter wisare yet to collect their PVCs to do so to enable them to exercise their civic responsibilities to return APC to power in the next general elections in the State.
In his speech, the State director general of APC divine mandate campaign Council for consolidation and continuity, Deacon Austin Umahi hinted the zoning arrangement of all elective positions in Ebonyi State has come to stay, adding that Governor Umahi has paid his dues as far as good governance is a concern and advised Ebonyi people to remain supportive to the present government to attract more dividends of democracy in the State.
He further appreciated the Rachel Umahi women for their doggedness and for being supportive of the present administration under the leadership of Gov. Umahi.
He described the president as a goal-getter, resilient, great mobilizer, virtuous woman and great achiever who has distinguished herself among her equals, assured a special recognition to the group in the scheme of things while charging them to guide their PVCS jealously as it their only power to vote for FON, to sustain the equitable distribution of power and peace of the State.
In a goodwill message, the chairperson of Ezza North LGA Mrs Elizabeth Ogodo Ali Nome, the Wife of the State APC Chairman Mrs Stella Okoro Emegha, and the former SA to the Governor on labour matters Lady Grace Chukwu among others, appreciated the first family for their love to Ebonyi people and vowed to canvass votes for APC in their various domain.
Highlights of the event, were the inauguration of Rachel Umahi Women into the FON supporters fold by APC campaign DG, decoration of Austin Umahi by the National President of Rachel Umahi women, presentation of customised caps to Rachel Umahi women, and dancing competition among others.
