Governor David Nweze Umahi of Ebonyi State.
The Edda Leaders of Thought have applauded Governor David Nweze Umahi for the massive infrastructural development of Edda Land.
They made the commendation in a communique after an emergency meeting held at the Palace of the Traditional Ruler of Ebunwana Edda, HRH Ezeogo Charles Azuenya on Monday.
Chooks Oko, the Special Assistant to the Governor on Media and Strategy disclosed this in a statement.
The Stakeholders commended the Governor for saving the lives of road users through the construction of the gargantuan Iyere Flyover.
"Edda clan otherwise christened “Afikpo South Local Government Area”, is a major beneficiary of Gov. Umahi’s outstanding accomplishments in both human and infrastructural development.
"We however wonder why a son of Edda land, Sen. Michael Ama Nnachi had at a public gathering castigated and attempted to rubbish the Governor’s monumental achievements, particularly in Edda including the Iyere Edda flyover, the longest flyover bridge east of the Niger which has eliminated incessant road accidents and loss of lives at the particular spot ."
They appreciated the Governor for spearheading the election and appointment of Edda Sons and Daughters into positions of trust including Senator Ama Nnachi and Minister of State for Health, Mr Joseph Ekumankama, describing the gesture as a mark of love by the Governor.
The Stakeholders wondered why their son Senator Ama Nnachi who rode on the back of Governor Umahi to victory could turn around and take a dig at his destiny helper.
"We disassociate ourselves from the unruly behaviour of Sen. Ama Nnachi which is alien to the character of the average Edda man.
"We, therefore, give Senator Nnachi 48 hours to retract his insult on Gov. Umahi and apologize to him and the good people of Edda for shamelessly disgracing and misrepresenting us or face appropriate sanctions according to the tradition and customs of the clan."
They appealed to the Governor and the general public to disregard the infantile disposition of Senator Ama Nnachi and his co-travellers, assuring that they would continue to support the Governor and all his political body movements.
