A charity organization under the Abakaliki Catholic diocese called Hospital Visitationaries of Mary has offset hospital bills for over 60 indigent patients in Abakaliki.
The pious society also feeds admitted patients in a selected hospital, motherless babies home, etc every month.
The charity organization led by its founder Rev. Fr. Dr. John Chidi Obasi during the week visited St Vincent's Hospital Ndubia and Mater Hospital, Afikpo, and offset the hospital bills of indigent patients.
The organization gave a cheque of #549, 100 to the Administrator of Mater Hospital, Afikpo.
Rev. Fr. Dr. John Chidi Obasi also presented a cheque for #200, 000 to the Administrator of St Vincent's Hospital Ndubia.
Rev. fr. John Chidi Obasi thanked those who visited a reality through their donations.
"Many patients would have spent their Christmas in the Hospital not because they are still sick but because they have recovered and were discharged but can't pay their hospital bills.
"In the spirit of Christmas, this must not happen. People assisted us to make them go home for Christmas. I thank those who donated to the event. He said.
About 60 indigent patients benefited from the gesture.
