As Christians across the globe were commemorating the birthday of Jesus Christ - the Christmas ceremony in the year 2022, Governor David Umahi urged those in Ebonyi, Nigeria and other parts of the world to embrace peace throughout the festive season.

Governor Umahi who made this appeal in his Christmas message on Sunday expressed joy while hailing the Ebonyi people, both home and abroad.
He described the inspirational times and life of the Lord Jesus Christ on Earth, the dominion of His sacred kingship and the glory of His majesty as His true manifestations of the gains Of the birth being celebrated by the Christian community today.
He also that the purpose of the Christmas celebration is to commemorate the fact that God loves us and is with us all the time.
He further described Christmas as a time of spiritual reflection on the important functions of the Christian faith and a time of reconciliation and salvation. "It is a time we demonstrate the significance of the love of our saviour, Jesus Christ who was born to save the world from sin and sorrow," he emphasized.
The governor, therefore, commended the citizens of Ebonyi State, particularly the Christians on the perfect purpose of the Christmas celebration and urged them to use the opportunity of this season to share the joy of God's loving-kindness with Ebonyi State and other parts of the world.
Umahi prayed that "God's mercies that led the inhabitants of the state thus far as a people and His grace that has kept us on track despite the challenges that confront our society today," while sending his good wishes to those celebrating their Christmas in Ebonyi and
outside the state.
He urged all and sundry to "continue to 'pray for a united Nigeria where the love of the Nation reigns above religious and tribal considerations.
"I urge you also to pray especially for a peaceful and hitch-free General Election coming shortly next year. May God continue to bless and prosper you as you celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ.
"I wish you all Merry Christmas and please accept always, the assurances of the esteemed regards and best wishes of the government of Ebonyi State"
